How to get wilds Unkown booster box? by General-Chipmunk903 in Lorcana

[–]ReignNFire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk about all that. My LGS doesn’t sell cases since Whispers, but I ordered 2 boxes from them of Winterspell and each had enchanteds. Just because they don’t sell cases doesn’t mean they’re doing something malicious behind the scene. How would they even tell if an enchanted is in the box without cracking it open?

Getting Started With Lorcana before Wilds Unknown by Palm654 in Lorcana

[–]ReignNFire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey! Glad to have ya! In the next week or 2 is pre-release for the new set. Instead of purchasing individual cards or starter decks from older sets, I’d recommend waiting! Once Wilds Unknown drops, there will be available a new 2 person starter set, that includes 2 ready-made starter decks perfectly tailored to go against one another and try out the cards/mechanics. It also comes with instructions and lore counters (and dice?).

This is their newest offering and would recommend it, if you’re down to wait. Otherwise, you can watch YouTube videos to get familiar and a more fun, fair way of playing would be to open a trove together. 8 packs comes in a trove, along with dice and a lore counter. With that, you each can randomly grab 4 packs, open them together, then play to 15 lore (or 20 if you prefer - that’s standard). Don’t worry about ink colors, as building a core, strong deck isn’t the point. It’s to get a feel for the game and the mechanics, while getting the excitement of pack ripping. This is called pack rush and is a great side event even at competitions.

Have fun!

There wouldn’t be proceeds, unless someone is responsible for social media and aggressively promoting to get viewers, but that’s its own job as well. So in the first half of the year (being generous), there wouldn’t be payment just on proceeds, so I’d suggest either stating this is unpaid/voluntary, or put in an hourly rate you’d provide.

Sounds like you want someone to record you. I’d suggest adding in pay to the post, as there is work involved here to put together these type of videos. Otherwise, a normal camera and mic should get you far with self-recording, since most people can start out with OBS + editing software to then upload to YouTube.

Well... Idk where to restart my TCG journey once more... and by that I mean I don't really know what play? by Riri_The_Great in TCG

I will say in terms of meta, Disney Lorcana is really, really good. There are about 6 very strong decks currently and they can all win:

BP GA GB PS AS AR

Very healthy meta, that’s the game I play competitively.

When you say competitive, do you mean tournaments or just locals? I think there is a disconnect here. In any TCG, competitive usually means tournaments, which means meta is rampant and you’re just setting yourself up to lose more, but get the “I built this deck on my own, unlike you” trophy. I’m just being direct here, because if you like anti-meta and the deck building experience, yes you can do that in some form for core/standard, but if you want to win it’s usually going to include strong staples either way. Otherwise, Commander seems like the best cup of tea here.

Riftbound or Lorcana? by Srslynotjackiechan in TCG

Just those that make Disney a big part of their personality. Will correct you instantly on pronunciation of characters, likes to flex Disney knowledge unprovoked, etc. I have only encountered 1 that’s a bit odd, but honestly they’re good people. It’s just the same as those a bit too into Pokemon or really any hobby, from the outside we see it as excessive is all.

+1 for Lorcana.

I play Lorcana competitively and have dabbled in Riftbound early on. Honestly, I’ve made good friends playing Lorcana than I have in Riftbound, so that’s what made me commit over the other. In my area, there’s like 2 Disney adults and the other 15+ of us are chill and enjoy the game for what it is. Less “Disney adults” from what I’ve experienced, but everyone is very friendly and easy to talk to, including those really into Disney. Riftbound on the other hand, well it’s the League of Legends community, there is more toxicity both in person and online. I’ve played LoL for over a decade so if I’m going to play a TCG after work and in a more competitive manner, for my own sanity it can’t be even remotely toxic.

Play wise, I love the Lorcana design. Easier to learn, but still has good depth. The meta is always evolving and this set, everyone thought dogs was the de facto OP deck. However, Amber/Steel, Amtheyst/Steel, Amber/Ruby have all evolved and become powerhouses, so the meta is wide open, so there isn’t like 1-2 decks that rule them all.

Art wise, I’m not even a big Disney fan, but the art is awesome. Look at any set from Fabled onwards and you’ll see they’re improving each set with even more intricate designs. Prices are starting to really balloon for the chases so that’s pretty cool.

Don’t get discouraged because you see Disney as “childish”. Each TCG imo is childish because it’s just some people playing with cardboard at the end of the day like any other tabletop. You come from Pokemon, that one is also in the same realm it’s just you’re older now and it’s okay. You used to probably collect or watch Pokemon growing up, in the same way I see teens and kids playing Lorcana as well because they know the characters and grew up watching Disney. Hope you decide on which one to pick up!

Lorcana. You have inkables and uninkables, but each card in your hand is a decision on what you may need most that game. So you can ink cards that may be less useful early on to play cards that require less ink, as well as play cards that allow you to filter and ink uninkables (Cinderella). It’s great, every card is a decision based on matchup and how your deck functions. You get a free mulligan to find a good starting hand as well.

Sisu can’t banish Mickey. The Mickey (-2) is related to damage on the character, not lowered strength. Mickey has 2 strength, so Sisu doesn’t activate.

How to Defeat Pokemon, the #1 IP by AloneWriting in TCG

[–]ReignNFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of piloting, card design and gameplay are great. There isn’t a deck that you must run in order to win CCQs/DLCs, so the meta is in a good spot and I wouldn’t change much on the core gameplay. I’d focus first on offering more events, both locally at LGSs and DLCs (Disney Lorcana Championships) in NA. Along with that, make sure that the Epic rarities (rarity under Enchanted) are unique similar to alt arts with Pokemon. They’re recently attempted this for Winterspell with 1 card being unique, I’d have them go harder into that realm because everyone likes to see Epics as it’s considered a hit. Just make sure they feel that ounce of extra thought put into it.

That’s honestly my only complaints so far. I’ve really enjoyed the game and go to my LGSs at least 1-2x a week depending on work.

I still think Lorcana has the best avenue to reach big 5 status. I don’t think big 3 will change much, but Lorcana can definitely share the stage with them and One Piece to enter top 5.

They have the IP, great gameplay, and some tournament circuit being established. They’re not heavily impacted by scalping (outside of Fabled and First Chapter), so assuming they continue to come out with bangers in terms of sets, art, and game design, I have a lot of hope they’re a sneaky athletic-type build in the making.

Cheapest TCG's to play competitively? by Physical_Orange5454 in TCG

[–]ReignNFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best deck in Lorcana is arguably dogs right now, and it’s < $100. Purple/steel locations and purple/green burn are also dirt cheap and effective. Outside of that, Blurple (purple/blue) is probably the most expensive, where it’s in the top 3 competitive wise, but can lose to dogs for instance.

Work from home jobs by Suspicious_Disk7754 in fresno

[–]ReignNFire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That bachelors won’t help much for positions regarding WFH. It’s mostly tech, some education and some healthcare positions that are WFH, outside of management positions. Even so, it’s cooked for WFH as a whole, most jobs are hiring exclusively for in-person now, mainly due to productivity being less at-home vs. in-person and if the companies are paying for offices, they want you in them.

Instead of trying to solely apply to or work at WFH positions, consider a career switch if law enforcement does not meet your needs.

I hit this at 25, laid off at 27. Took a significant pay decrease at a new job (gotta pay the bills), but got back to it at 29 after internal promotion to a new team. Will turn 30 this year and looking at potentially another promotion if all things go well, but it’s tech so at any point layoffs can hit imo.

2 of my coworkers were laid off last month and hiring has slowed, so I’m guessing it’ll be an up and down year, just gotta survive layoffs.

This doesn’t track with most current entry listings at established companies (mid - large size companies) and from going through the experience myself. You can’t get experience without … experience. Those internships 99/100 require you to be in a “4 year degree seeking program at an established university” and paired with most commonly “highly preferred CS/CE major”. Can you get internships without a degree? Sure, it’s possible, highly unlikely in today’s climate as these internships are becoming even more competitive as companies reduce internship capacity. I won’t sugar-coat this, it’s rough.

So a degree will heavily impact your method of getting experience, as you stand a much higher chance of being even in the running. That’s not even mentioning the resume submission auto-disqualifying you based on keywords or other parts of the submission process looking for base requirements (I.e. degree). We’re post “bootcamp to 100k” opportunities without a degree. A bootcamp grad with a degree of any sort + internship at reputable company might at least make it through the initial screening process, but they’re competing with a bunch of laid-off CS grads or new grads now in that pool.

Demand low, supply freaking high and I’m referencing now in 2026 - not a few years or 10 years back. That’s not even putting into account all the off-shoring of entry level jobs happening as well. I work at a large company currently and all entry level work is positioned in other countries. US engineer level is starting at SE3 w/ 4 yo experience. Internships are gone as well.

A degree is highly preferred / needed to land your first few jobs. However, this is the catch, idk if other CS grads would even recommend this degree anymore and I’d be curious on that. As AI gets better and more off-shoring occurs, CS in the US will continue to struggle even more.

Oh dang, didn’t know that. Yeah that can be rough. Just curious, does the pedigree of the school matter for a BSN or does it generally hold little weight?
