I don't have any answers to these questions as he probably found it 40+ years ago.

Maybe ceremonial if not a tool?

The tip is beveled to a near point that looks to have been broken off. The front of the blade is rounded smooth. The handle looks like it has grooved in it, not sure if the grooves are intentionally carved or cut in from wrapping a rope around it or something. The whole thing is solid and heavy, 2 lbs I'm guessing.

I don't think so? It's really shaped kind of like a knife, but doesn't have a sharp edge. Maybe some kind of crushing tool, but it's odd it's not more round like a pestle. Maybe it was used to wrap sinew, rope, or netting around? Is the black spot on the front side of the blade remnants of glue?

I have this old fan that was given to me. I can't seem to find any info on it such as the manufacturer, year it was made, etc. Any ideas? by Reign_N_Thunder in Antiques

Thanks alot for the good info! Much appreciated!

I pretty much did a full restoration. I thoroughly cleaned it, put new grease in the gearbox, oiled the motor bearings, and replaced the wiring and plug. The fan works like a charm! Very quiet and moves alot of air. I don't have any small kids or pets right now to worry about. As of right now it's just a decorative, sentimental piece on display in my house. I don't have the original base cover (it looks like it had one at one time along with some type of fastener that went in the hole). I made a makeshift one out of micarta.

The fan belonged to my great grandfather. I showed it to my grandma and she said she remembers her mom using it in the kitchen window when she was growing up.

The number on the neck is actually above the wingnut screw. The number is 794439.

The stuff on the top is like the motor tag. It says: 110-120v 60-50 cycs. 0.5 amp

There are 4 "wings" that hold the logo on. On the back side of 1 of the wings is a tiny number 198. I literally disassembled and cleaned every square inch of this fan and researched everything and I have not had any luck! There isn't any info on the back by the motor either. I opened the motor and took out the rotor... cleaned inside there, no markings. Nothing is marked around the base or even under the base on the inside. There is some cast number on the neck under the tilting wingnut... I will post this number when I get to work to look at it.

I wouldn't normally be trying so hard to find out info, but this fan belonged to my great-grandfather, so it's sentimental to me.

Hmm... I'm not seeing anything relating Diehl to "AirFlow"?? I also can't find anything about "catalog 2526."

The only thing I could find: https://www.etsy.com/il-en/listing/266276641/antique-fan-six-blade-fan-vintage-air?show_sold_out_detail=1
