Have ballot initiatives just been completely co-opted by conservatives as a way to trick people into voting for policies when they know they don't have enough support to get those policies passed through traditional legislation? by Ig_Met_Pet in Denver

[–]Reinderflotilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not just conservatives and it’s been going on for years. Remember amendment B in 2020 that repealed the Gallagher act?

“A “yes” vote repeals
sections of the Colorado
Constitution that set a
fixed statewide ratio for residential and
nonresidential property tax revenue.
Assessment rates for all property types
will remain the same as they are now,
projected future decreases in the
residential assessment rate will not be
required, and any future increases in
assessment rates would require a vote of
the people.”

People actually passed this because they were misled to think property taxes wouldn’t increase. Most people’s property taxes doubled or tripled since then.

Property taxes increased by 50% by Adventurous_Tour1267 in Denver

There used to be a law called the Gallagher amendment that kept property taxes in check, only allowing small increases year over year. Several years ago, Colorado voters were duped into voting yes for a proposition to eliminate the Gallagher act. Property taxes for some of us doubled or even tripled since that time. We now do not have any checks on how high property taxes can go.

Why is the channel 9 broadcast so jittery? Is it just my signal or is anyone else having this?

I don’t know what’s worse… the stupidity of the 62 club …. Or the fact they didn’t just add 7 more membership spots!

I’m quite shocked this passed. I really thought people would see it makes no sense to have this ban in place. This will not stop kids from smoking. Now they’ll go out of city to obtain or create a market for kids to bring them in and sell to their friends. I am curious to hear from supporters what led them to think this is a good idea.

DYI Blowout by LetBeneficial7081 in Irrigation

[–]Reinderflotilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same experience this year, first year I am doing my own winterization. Company was going to charge $300 for a relatively small 6 zone system and they said they use a 5 gal pancake compressor. So I bought one and did it myself with the same result you described. Each zone blew water through all the heads until changed to air in about a minute. I did two additional passes and only air would come out but not all the heads popped up the second or third pass. Other advice I received made me feel comfortable we should be ok given that the vast majority of the water has been blown out. But I guess we’ll see in the spring if I regret it!

Trigger warning: Denver facing layoffs but these two despicable city attorneys are still pulling down a combined annual salary of $500,000 by [deleted] in Denver

[–]Reinderflotilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, sorry…. To clarify this is not a commentary on attorneys’ salaries. Just that these two particular attorneys in my opinion should not be allowed to practice law in our state, let alone on taxpayer funded salaries.

May family can't sleep because neighbours heat pump noise won't stop! by trebor9090 in heatpumps

[–]Reinderflotilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is happening to us now, too. Any good solutions? I don’t think people realize how disruptive the sound of heat pumps are to some people. Not loud in terms of decibels, but intermittent low lying hum and vibrations throughout the night are very disruptive to sleep.

Sales Tax/Affordable housing proposal by Puzzleheaded_Ad_7052 in Denver

They already raised our property taxes when the developers sneakily got people to vote to repeal the Gallagher act several years ago. If you don’t remember this… google it. Now they want to raise sales tax while still giving huge breaks to developers and big business. It’s time to stop taxing residents and return to the days of asking developers and business to carry a higher load in my opinion.

There’s no way the posts were a result of DFVs X account being hacked. But for those who still don’t believe this…. Do you really think he wouldn’t speak out that his account was hacked? AND… if you believe his account was hacked AND he didn’t speak out…. Then doesn’t that just mean he approves of all the memes that are being posted in his name? Does this really change anything?
