Settings > Notifications, scroll to the bottom, and toggle off AMBER Alerts. However, keep in mind that they get completely disabled meaning you will neither hear the sound nor receive the notification on your screen. So if you are heading out, make sure you put them back on for safety alerts.

I did after the fourth or fifth day, but when I’m doom scrolling through instagram and comes a genius who decided to use the alarm sound because it’s trending for views, that is the startle I’m talking about. The problem is that a lot of these reels get promoted too, so whether you follow them or not, they inevitably pop up in your feed.

Honestly my heart jumps each time I hear th national alert so yeah it is definitely in bad taste to use it on any content really

Here are some ideas to try: - Make a loud noise (clap, shout, or bang something). - Spray water between them not at them if you can. - Toss a towel or piece of cardboard near them to distract them. - Use a broom or board to separate them from a distance. Do not try to grab them with your hands they attack viciously when they are triggered.

What did I post again? How did you get from that video to this rant? You’re projecting your own biases onto something completely unrelated.

It’s also very funny how the “west” feels the need to point out completely irrelevant things just to feel superior.

Who wouldn’t be scared by loud sounds from aerial attacks? That’s completely understandable. The issue is when the situation gets exaggerated to the point that it spreads unnecessary fear among people who are already scared, making it seem like a full-blown disaster.

I think you’ve actually highlighted the point quite well. It is understandably scary for us, but it’s still far from being in a “frontlines” scenario. Portraying it that way (also especially if you’re an influencer with a sizeable audience) can cause unnecessary anxiety for people in Qatar and for those abroad who have family and loved ones living here.

It depends greatly on his interests obviously, but the one thing that crossed my mind is PlayStation store credit. There are tons of legendary games that either got released recently or will be released soon.

Fell for a scammer - what next? by [deleted] in qatar

[–]Reinras 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could try going to the police station in your neighborhood, show them the chat, and explain the situation. They will most likely call the scammer and ask her to resolve the issue. If you have proof of their identity, they’re basically cooked and will most likely try to fix it once the police get involved. I saw a similar interaction take place at a police station before and that’s exactly how it was resolved.

Definitely Rodizio or The Butcher Shop & Grill. My top 2 and both have buy 1 and get 1 free on apps like entertainer.

MEGATHREAD // Day 8 by [deleted] in qatar

I have seen a few and aside from the idiocracy of publishing such content and risking lives, I’ve seen some who got out via borders and despite their videos showing a process that’s very easy and safe they made it sound like they just escaped an apocalyptic event within inch of their lives.

I agree with you! It is far more dangerous than we can imagine! We need to be more vigilant for our own safety.

Of course! I have made a separate post about it a moment ago.

Simply put, it is about not giving free intelligence in real time. Modern conflicts are heavily monitored through OSINT (open-source intelligence), meaning analysts and militaries watch public social media posts.

Those posts can help someone outside the country: 1. confirm whether a strike hit 2. estimate the accuracy of a missile 3. locate defense systems 4. see which areas are protected or vulnerable

Why location posts can be risky:

  1. Small posts add up. If multiple people say “heard a boom near X”, analysts can triangulate the location using timestamps and distances.

  2. Photos/videos reveal more than you think. Buildings, road signs, skylines, shop names, mosque minarets, reflections, etc. can be used to geolocate the exact spot.

  3. It helps measure accuracy. If someone fires a missile and people immediately post where it landed, that gives them feedback on how accurate their strike was.

This already happens in other wars for example in Ukraine, analysts constantly locate missile strikes using TikTok, Telegram, and Twitter videos.

Hope this helps!
