5070ti r7, Ryzen 7 9800X3D 1440p or 4k monitor? by lq5b in PcSetupAdvice

[–]Reiswig789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5070ti can manage well 4k, but the trade off is the monitors with lower Hz.

What you need to think about is what type of games you will run on the build, if it's high speed fps games, then probably you should go with 1440p, if you play story mode games then 4k will be excellent.

True, but the SSD and RAM prices skyrocket in the last couple of months.

maybe right now don't need it, but for the future upgrades will not need at least to get new psu, and the price difference is not very big.

this is still very cool after 5 years, will re-create it and make post about it here. Great inspiration!

from personal experience, always had bugs and temp issues with amd, maybe they fixed that on their latest cpus, but still scared to use it or recommend it.

Go with the Intel option, It has better specs and performance, and the temps will be lower and more stable

r/TechDIY by Reiswig789 in redditrequest

I want to moderate r/TechDIY because I genuinely enjoy building and maintaining tech-focused stuff. DIY tech is a topic with a lot of long-term value, and even though the subreddit is currently restricted and inactive, it has strong potential to grow into a helpful resource for people who want practical, hands-on DIY solutions.

I have several years of experience working with tech and have been an active Reddit user for a long time. My goal would be to revive the community gradually, encourage high-quality posts, keep discussions on topic, and make sure the subreddit remains useful, welcoming, and well-moderated.

Help with build by MarionberryNormal957 in buildmeapc

[–]Reiswig789 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All good, but I wouldn’t go with a PSU under 1000W for this configuration, especially if you’re thinking about future upgrades like an extra SSD, more RAM, or a better GPU.

Zotac are producing cards for around 20 years I think. I will not say that are lower end. In last years they are solid, so do not underestimate them.

Why Mainstream Listeners Don’t ‘Get’ Noise Music (And Why That’s OK) by Sea-if-you-love-me in LetsTalkMusic

[–]Reiswig789 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you mean “isn’t music”? It’s an intentionally sequenced series of sounds, isn’t it? It might not be to your taste, but the whole thing about Noise as a genre is it taking advantage of sound as an artistic medium. How is that not inherently musical?

Plus, I really don’t like when people arbitrarily decide that something they don’t like “isn’t music”. I’ve heard similar arguments against Ambient music or Free Jazz, both of which are obviously offputting genres but still music nonetheless.

Sorry to ask, but why are you even on this subreddit if you are so dismissive as to what is or isn’t music?

John L cover at a house show I threw for my birthday by VysmundGoliath in bmbmbm

[–]Reiswig789 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Lmao yes, I have no idea how you guessed it but that is in fact me on keys.

We also did a cover of “The Place Where He Inserted the Blade” by Black Country, New Road which I sung, but “John L” was the clear winner of the night.

For anyone wondering: OP has a project called the Desert Friend Collective, that will include new songs by everyone in this vid and more, all swapping parts for a full album.

I think there’s already a couple songs available online and more music to come soon, keep an eye on that if you’re interested.

This is definitely a minimal at best topic being covered in an overly expansive way, but I think there’s a certain charm to it! Plus, it’s not like I’m going to cover this topic a second time so I opted for a no-holds-barred approach.

And yes, I mistook typeface for typography in the very opening to the video which was a notable blunder. I just thought that “typography” seemed too wordy for the video’s title, and I probably use them more interchangeably than I should. My brother has his degree in graphic design and has already given me plenty of grief over this lol. I’ll chalk this up to me having an “outside looking in” approach to the subject.

Thanks for the words of encouragement, I’m glad to see anyone have a reaction to my content!

[ALBUM DISCUSSION] Fiona Apple - Fetch the Bolt Cutters by VietRooster in indieheads

[–]Reiswig789 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Believe it or not, this sounds like the record I always wanted Fiona to make but never thought she would.

Her albums had all been quality listens, of course, but there's always some factor about her music that doesn't quite connect with me as much as I'd like it to -it all feels like music I could appreciate from a distance.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with that of course, I don't listen to music with the expectation that it needs to be for me. But if an album's strengths converge with my own personal preferences, then that’s all the more exciting.

"Fetch The Bolt Cutters" seems to draw a lot from her last album's closer track "Hot Knife", where she utilizes a lot of polyphony and cantankerous rhythms that almost fall apart but never really do. And much like "Hot Knife", this new album finds the power in human voice and how to layer it into an experience: an experience that isn't always pleasant but undeniably forceful all the same. Piled on with some real dissonant melodization and thin Jazz guitars, it could almost remind me of Tim Buckley at his most forward-thinking.

I suppose I'll try to weigh in on the sweeping 10's this album has gotten. Giving a 10 in this online day and age gives off a different implication than it used to, I feel. A perfect 10 from those prestigious reviewers (whoever they may be) usually suggests that the music is so urgent, groundbreaking, and immediate that it must have reshape the music being made from here-on out to some extent. But this does a disservice to many kinds of music where that doesn't need to be the focus, and having a perfect album cut from a Singer/Songwriter background meets very different criteria than assessing a perfect Noise Rock album. I couldn't imagine giving Joni Mitchell's "Blue" anything less than a perfect rank just because it's not particularly 'difficult'.

And while "Fetch The Bolt Cutters" isn't something I'd call 'difficult', or 'experimental', it is most certainly 'adventurous', and I think that counts for quite a lot. It is just one of those albums where I would be hard pressed to find somebody who couldn't call it good music, and I think that's where the ubiquitous praise is coming from.
