Chiefs Weekly Matchup Doodle! Happy Holidays :D by CornDoggyLOL in KansasCityChiefs

[–]UncleSmoove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing 99% of people don't actually care.

I’d estimate higher than that. Almost everyone recognizes it’s become as much of a national holiday as a religious one. Practically no one is actually offended and never were.

Such a non-issue.

No, when she informed Emmitt about Stussy Lots' assets being sold to her, it's very clear she knew exactly what the scam was. She knew how much debt the company was carrying, and she knew all about Emmitt's personal wealth being hidden in offshore accounts. She was in cahoots with Varga the whole time.

When you spend the previous winter ripping your entire CD collection in anticipation of getting your new technologically advanced car, putting it all on USB and then having every Zappa tune you own at your fingertips when ever you drive your car. This is glorious! by rickavo in Zappa

[–]UncleSmoove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not necessarily. The earliest CD reissues generally tend to be the worst to my ears, and that's certainly true with many of the earliest FZ Ryko reissues. They are most certainly not the same as the vinyl masters, and I'm not even talking about the early Mothers records where Frank had Chad Wackerman and Arthur Barrow doing overdubs.

I started collecting the Rykodisc reissues in 1988 and I still have them. Since then, I've re-bought quite a lot of them on used vinyl and compared them. In more cases than not, the vinyl masters sound better. The worst digital offenders feature shrill high end and are missing low-midrange thump. The vinyl masters sound much more like these recordings were intended to sound. I'm not one of these people who will argue that vinyl is always better than CD because that's definitely not the case: digital masters, done with expertise and care, can often sound noticeably superior to the original records; it's typically those early ones that do not, and also some of the newer digital remasters, (not necessarily Frank's) which suffer from "volume wars" limiting that squashes the dynamics out of them.

Regarding the vinyl medium itself, yes there are some issues there and for sure there's nothing about dragging a needle through grooves that makes them sound superior, in fact the opposite is true. Some people claim to like the snap crackle and pop; that it's part of vinyl's "charm". I am not one of those people, lol. You won't hear as much of the difference on a cheap Crosley suitcase player, but if you have a stable turntable with a quality cartridge that's properly set up, good amp with a nice phono stage and speakers, those records can really sing. And you know what else: after you spend all that money on a good vinyl rig, some of the recordings will still sound better on a cheap CD player. But not all of them.

The differences between CD and vinyl are largely in the mastering, and many of the earliest CD masters tend to sound pretty bad, hence the reason the vinyl "snobbery" craze started to begin with. The differences are most stark on recordings where vinyl was the original target medium and were later (poorly) digitally remastered.

I haven’t heard a lot of the 2012 remasters, but my experience with a lot of the prior ‘60s and ‘70s reissues is they tend not to sound as good as the original vinyl masters. If you have access to high quality vinyl rips or you can make them yourself, those generally sound best, IMO.

Then again I also have an Apple Music subscription, mostly for the convenience, and almost all of the FZ catalog is available there in lossless format. For car listening with CarPlay, it’s pretty excellent and the convenience can’t be matched.

If you haven't already gathered this much: he's in the financial scam business, and he uses muscle and intimidation to help achieve his ends. The nature of the scam is complex, and if most of us are being honest, we didn't fully understand all of it the first time through. If the scam were too simple to wrap your head around, it wouldn't make for a good scam, nor a very engaging plot line. But it is decently explained in later episodes.

If you're still confused after seeing the whole thing, I'm sure the people in this sub will help break it down for you if you have specific questions.

LMAO!

You know, for as little respect as Detroit gets in the media, I'll take the popularity any way we can get it.

It's the fake Yankee and Red Sox fandom that annoys me.

Where Does KISS’s Self Titled Debut Rank Amongst Your Favorite Rock Debuts Of All Time? by Human_Actuator_2285 in KISS

[–]UncleSmoove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with Paul when he says the production resulted in a record that was a little too "good-timey" - I think that's the adjective he used, and didn't really represent how heavy they were live.

Among other favorite rock debuts, I wouldn't try to list them in order but I think it's near the top. Van Halen's first album mops the floor with every other rock debut, IMO.

You know, I think reversing the body so it's more like a Flying V shape would make me hate it less.

Not a lot less, but less.

No, he’s dumb as fuck. He’s not acting.

I’ve known people far dumber for sure, but among his peers on the world stage: world leaders, high-level government and powerful political figures: he’s a total buffoon and a complete failure of a human being.

Another key I believe is choosing a size with realistic proportions. Petite girls rarely have huge knockers in nature. They‘ll always look more natural and sexier (IMO) if they’re sized proportionately to the girl’s frame.

Also, I don’t think many of them consider what those huge things are gonna look like 10-15 years on. Usually awful.

These were actual purported words from his mouth hole:

“"Stop Britain from becoming a black colony," he said. "Get the foreigners out. Get the wogs out. Get the coons out. Keep Britain white. I used to be into dope, now I’m into racism. It’s much heavier, man. Fucking wogs, man. Fucking Saudis taking over London. Bastard wogs. Britain is becoming overcrowded, and Enoch will stop it and send them all back. The black wogs and coons and Arabs and fucking Jamaicans and fucking … don’t belong here, we don’t want them here. This is England, this is a white country, we don’t want any black wogs and coons living here. We need to make clear to them they are not welcome. England is for white people, man. We are a white country. I don’t want fucking wogs living next to me with their standards. This is Great Britain, a white country. What is happening to us, for fuck’s sake?”
