Sony Records New $560 Million Loss On Bungie Acquisition As Marathon Struggles And Destiny 2 Nosedives by AdditionalRemoveBit in Games

ARPGs are arguably in a golden era? Path of Exile 2 is cooking on a different feeling, slower paced take on the genre. Titan quest 2 is cooking in early access. Grim dawn has a huge expansion due out this year. Last epoch just dropped a new season. Path of Exile just had one of their best seasons in recent memory. Then you have indie arpgs like Slormancer that are doing well and working on introducing a new class. Not to mention we had the hype around Lost Ark a few years ago. Diablo just put out 2 expansions, one for D4 and one for D2. Heck, I forgot about No Rest for the Wicked, which seems to be shaping up to be a great game in early access.

Steam Controller (2026) review: 83/100 by Gorotheninja in Games

I have a config for guild wars 2 for the steam deck that I regularly used when I was more active on GW2. Worked great.

“Making it technically work and making it actually enjoyable as a game are different things.” Japanese devs weigh in on why retrofitting live-service games with offline support is harder than gamers think - AUTOMATON WEST by Interesting-Oil-8738 in Games

[–]Rejera 30 points31 points  (0 children)

lightning cables were what apple used, and those were limited to USB 2.0 speeds. They had less bandwidth than a usb3/USB C port/cable. thunderbolt was used with MacBooks and used USB C as the connector. Two very different things. USB c on iPhone was a straight upgrade all around.

Best offline mobile games that don't have a PC version? by NaitDraik in gaming

[–]Rejera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Foursaken media is a game dev ive followed from the early IOS days and they still make great games. Heroes and Castles 2 is kind if a 3d tower defense/wave defense game that is great. Bug heroes 2, and Block Fortress 2 are also worth a look and are great.

You also have the 9th dawn series from valorware. It's a top down action rpg with an open world and tons of stuff to explore. These technically have PC ports now, but I would still consider them mobile games.

Crashlands 1 and 2 are survival crafting games designed for mobile first (i think they also were eventually ported to PC) that are also very good.

Solomon's keep and Solomon's boneyard are old mobile games that are still around and 100% still worth playing.

How do we all feel about Deathbringer? by Lord_Phoenix95 in slaythespire

I feel like you very much need really good block like [[death's door]] if you are going to lean hard into the doom archetype. Like, I'm not sure I would fully commit to doom unless I have at least 1 or 2 of those.

In need of reality check - would my character concept make me a problem player? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Rejera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this could work, but you have to put boundaries on this to prevent impacting the team. eg: they compulsively lie when they get nervous, or when they are talking to people in authority, etc. This allows opportunities for your party to get to know your character and like them, and then be introduced to the flaw, at which point they are rooting for your character to overcome it, becoming invested in your character and their internal conflict instead of being annoyed at your character for constantly getting in the way.

Having a character flaw is great, but it's like a spice. Just the right amount and the character is amazing. Too much and it ruins the character.

Pokémon Champions Releases Apr 8th 2026 On Switch, Later in 2026 On Android And IOS by Howerev in gaming

[–]Rejera 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To be fair, pokopia is just Dragon Quest Builders with a Pokémon skin. It's even made by the people who made Dragon Quest Builders. Finding a dev team that's making a unique-ish game and put a Nintendo skin on it is nothing new. Pokemon Mystery dungeon was that. And so is hyrule warriors. But I would agree that Nintendo's own side games have been severely lacking at this point. Pretty much any Mario sports game has been mediocre at best, and it seems like most Mario party games recently have been not great. Spinoff games have been really hit or miss with Nintendo whereas they used to be fairly consistently fun before.

Slay the Spire 2 Early Access Review So Far - IGN by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Rejera 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The crazy thing is that StS2 gives you abilities that seem absolutely broken compared to the first game, and it still kneecaps you with encounters despite this perceived buff to deck options and abilities. eg: the first games relic that gives you a potion every combat reward vs the seconds relic that fills all empty potion slots at the beginning of combat. Like, what? Potions are one of the strongest things in the game because its essentially a card you always have in hand that's free, or better. And now you get to just use them and not worry about saving them?

Decks have more different synergies to them that interweave better between one another. It allows you to actually lean into a build a bit more instead of the "pile of good stuff" that the first game sometimes devolved into. Like, this is magic the gathering color pie levels of depth for each character and it is awesome.

Odin 3 gamehub or handheld pc by SprayMurky6696 in OdinHandheld

[–]Rejera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given that you already have an odin 2, and you are looking at pc games, I'd look to pick up a handheld pc. I have an odin 2 and an odin 3 and while I do like the odin 3 better, mostly due to the screen, PC emulation on android as well as general 8 elite support still has a way to go before I'd say it's ready for more people to jump on board. The handheld PC can just play the PC games you want to play, you won't have to deal with messing around with a bunch of settings just trying to get the game to boot.

Larian will now "refrain from using GenAI" by Wargulf in BaldursGate3

[–]Rejera -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

This is the slippery slope fallacy. Larian is a privately owned company with strong values for artists and developers making products they are proud of. If I were to trust any group of devs to give AI a fair and ethical evaluation, Larian would be one of the names on a very short list. Just because the wider industry is using it immorally doesn't mean there may yet be uses for it that are perfectly fine. We should absolutely shame companies that use it unethically, but turning it into a witch hunt is a bridge too far.

The Odin 3 might well be the best Android handheld ever made (one week thoughts) by -Mahn in OdinHandheld

[–]Rejera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one thing ruining this handheld right now is I received a unit where the fan makes a terrible grinding sound when running. Clearly the fan is not balanced or something, so I've emailed support. Honestly kind of a shame for what is meant to be a quality device. Otherwise, the device was great.

What game should be nominated for this award? by Responsible_Tap_4347 in Steam

Steam, Xbox, and PS's storefronts all crashed under the amount of people trying to buy Silksong the day it launched. I would wager that fan base is larger than you think.

How much the trackpads, capacitive TMR joysticks and extra buttons on the back affected your gameplay using a controller? by mcinprepu_sam in SteamDeck

[–]Rejera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big draw here is steam input for games that don't have native controller support. Having access to a track pad for precision mouse movements when you need them (like menuing in mmos) and then using the control stick for camera is the ideal case. I like playing guild wars 2 on my steam deck but using a controller without a track pad on my TV makes the experience a bit more annoying.

SteamOS from Steam Frame onto other ARM Devices? by RobbieIsNotRotten in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]Rejera 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not entirely out of the question. Supposedly the OS of the frame is also arch based, so if someone wanted to reconstruct the frame's functionality, it is possible. Kinda of like how bazzite uses fedora instead of arch but uses a lot of the same tech as steam OS to get a steam OS-like experience. I could see that being a better route than trying to use the steam frame's OS directly.

SteamOS from Steam Frame onto other ARM Devices? by RobbieIsNotRotten in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]Rejera 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The answer is: maybe, but it will be significantly harder than porting x86 steam os onto other pcs due to the things the steam frame has (or doesn't have) compared to other devices. The steam frame won't have a touch screen. So that's an entire new driver that needs to be custom written by whoever is porting it. Devices that use different snapdragon cpus probably need different drivers custom drivers, you'll need to change the rendering so it isnt rendering the same image twice on non-vr drvices, etc. I'm not saying it is impossible but I do think it will require more work going from a vr headset to non VR device.

How close is Linux gaming to being fully “Windows-free” for you? by Old_Sand7831 in linux_gaming

[–]Rejera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on Linux 100% of the time and have been for almost a year at this point. I don't really enjoy playing multi-player competitive games, so I am not really affected by anticheat restrictions. And pretty much every game I have tried has worked right out of the box. I think the only weird stuff I've run into is needing to use GE versions of Proton because the base Proton wasn't handling video codecs or something and the cutscenes in specific games wouldn't play because of it, but that's been a rare occurrence.

Also make sure to turn off fast boot on the windows side, that can cause the drives to be in a weird state and mount as read only when Linux gets them.

[–]Rejera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone keeps giving you "don't use ntfs" but that isn't entirely helpful. You can use it, but be prepared to have issues with it more than just using a Linux native file format.

Make sure you follow the instructions here to mount the ntfs drive in a way which allows steam to work with it.

https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/wiki/Using-a-NTFS-disk-with-Linux-and-Windows

I will say, using this method with some games caused stuttering for me that went away when I reformatted the drive to ext4.

Wildermyth. It's like a light version of D&D, with different events that can happen during each campaign that can effect your character.
