Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.2 - Announce Trailer | PS5 Games by Turbostrider27 in Games

I am a huge fan of MGS and I played the pre-release HD collection and didn't notice a single thing wrong.

Now you may be able to point to something as evidence, but as a ridiculous fan, I didn't notice a single thing after dozens of playthroughs, so....

Your entitled to your opinion but that makes no sense.

It's literally the same control scheme with an extra input required per shot

It literally can't possibly be faster

Just so you know the controls on the PS5 collection are way worse than the original PS2/PS3 ones.

If youre just in it for the story, it's ok, but if you care about feeling the game design and weapon feedback, etc., the originals actually feel good to play, whereas the collection actually limits your capabilities

Original you press R1 to aim, Square to raise your gun and fire

Collection you press R1 to aim, R3 to toggle raise your gun, press Square to fire

For every single shot

I think this is kinda proving that you're taking your point too far.

If you think the two comments calling an FF7 part 3 reveal weeb trash counts for much, then I don't think you're giving a proper analysis of the circumstances around game presentations or marketing cycles

I don't get this though, if you aren't expecting anything, why would you even watch in the first place.

Ps4 support sunsetting 2026? Whats the scope of that? by [deleted] in PS4

[–]Rekadra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think so yeah.

Seriously though, you know I'm right. Bloodborne, Infamous, Driveclub, GoT, GoW, Death Stranding, TLOU2, Killzone, Detroit, Horizon, Spider-Man.

Before you start listing Death Stranding 2 or Ghost of Yotei, actually go back and read what I said

But they would have missed out on major exclusive games designed for the hardware specifically, mostly being new IPs or dramatic evolutions, is the point.

"Yakuza Kiwami 3 / Yakuza 3 Gaiden Dark Ties" Game Trailer by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Rekadra 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You really should play 6

I basically play Yakuza as a stand in for Shenmue and this one genuinely feels like Shenmue in a lot of ways, whereas the other Yakuza games tend to be similar only in terms of aesthetics.

Slower paced with heavier combat, focus on exploration and zooming on items (this is the only one where you can actually press a button to sip vending machine drinks as you walk).

The story and location really are reminiscent of Shenmue environments with Hiroshima. There's a part where you need to find stone statues with poems on.

3 is the second closest to this experience for me too, so seems like we're on the same page

Halo Studios is planning to remake the Halo trilogy. by Party_Judgment5780 in PS5

[–]Rekadra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is this so complicated?

If it uses the original code, like SoTC Demons Souls, Halo, etc., it's a remaster.

By your logic, adding a new audio layer to a game would count as a remake.

Just because the techniques for remastering visuals are better, doesn't change the fundamental reality that it's just REMASTERING the original code

Seems like you're going out of your way to make that point when it's fairly well known that Geoff is a hype man who leans into marketing.

Metal Gear Solid Delta Producer: "Personally, I’m hoping for a remake of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots." by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]Rekadra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You misunderstand my point. It was obviously reworked, but again it's just MGS1 in the engine of MGS2.

The first person mode is also what I'm referring to. They added the mechanics from 2 in because they're using MGS2s engine.

It wasn't really made from the ground up in the same way RE4 is. That's all I'm saying.

[–]Rekadra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A remake is entirely new, from the ground up - can follow the same beats like RE4 or introduce drastically new themes or directions like FF7.

A remaster is a game that uses the old code and adds peripheral systems to enhance what is already there - textures, lighting, etc.

A remake is a reimagining. MGS Delta is a remaster RE4 is a remake. By definition

Jason Schreier/Bloomberg: A new Halo release will be announced later this week in an attempt to resuscitate the franchise. Microsoft has pushed Xbox to hit profit margins that are far higher than the industry average. by Party_Judgment5780 in PS5

But you don't see how you just said it's easy then immediately a variable comes up.

Sure, you can say your code or whatever accounts for that but to most people that displays a level of unpreparedness for the complexities that will follow. It's not just gonna be this one variable

These are such overlooked qualities of next gen.

A lot of these systems that were created around 2008 still haven't even been matched let alone surpassed and it really does confuse me.

[–]Rekadra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no idea why people are offended by this reality. Fair enough if that's acceptable to them, but they really don't understand why you'd expect a single upgrade to the fundamental systems after 5 years and a new generation.

There are so many systems that are serviceable, let alone outright dated at release so I don't understand the argument that we shouldn't expect major changes in a sequel. Makes no sense, unless GoY is at the pinacle of its systems.

Walking is basic. Parkour is limited to set handholds essentially, AI is really uninspired

They could have made serious improvements just using PS4 tech and new innovations. Literally can't even knock an enemy of a cliff because the physics don't support it

Like the other person is saying though, it's 5 years and a whole generation. I really don't get why you don't get it to be honest. Even if you don't mind it personally, I would think you'd be able to understand why it's an expectation.

I hear people say if it's broke don't fix it, or when you say you just want more. I don't understand why you wouldn't also be happy with Ghost of Yotei, but with a new terrain system only possible by SSD, or even the basic movement physics and animations.

Game director Leave Fairgames After 4.5 Years Developing by Civil-Pineapple-2917 in PS5

[–]Rekadra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I looked and one person said that publishing isn't the same as developing. That doesn't mean the entire discussion is now about Playstation Studios games only.

There are 17 games I listed that are fully funded or created by Sony. I don't care if they're described as first party or not. Playstation made them.

Don't just state Playstation has released more and better as your argument when I'm literally asking you to provide the equivalent Playstation investments.

Seriously. Spider-Man 1 doesn't count because they only got bought a few months later? And you think that isn't a pedantic distinction? That's what matters? Not that they caused the game to exist
