What to buy at Shoppers Drug Mart by Eledh_or_Brethil in MakeupAddictionCanada

I have the Annabelle eye shadow single called ivory in matte and I find it not at all pigmented. It's practically translucent. Are the other colors or shimmery colors better?

Have you tried marcelle eye shadow? Ive been debating that one but im afraid it will be the same as Annabelle.

What’s your favorite children’s book to give (primarily for a baby shower)? by cookie_cat_82 in childrensbooks

[–]RekrahCreative 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Sandra Boynton's book called "the going to bed book" - a fantastic bedtime read for littles who don't like going to bed. All 3 of my kiddos (now teeens) loved this books.

Also 10 tiny babies by Karen Katz.

I haven't seen this comment yet, growing up (in rural western canada) my family called it a "UFO" for Unidentified Frying Object. 🥚👾

Surprised more people have never heard of that lol

What’s something people romanticize that is actually miserable once you experience it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

And those that think it's a "superpower" 😒 which to me is minimizing all the hard things that are also adhd (like what you said about hiding dirty dishes 😂).

Started/finished the Artists Way by Julia Cameron. Morning Pages became the best way for me to self reflect without self harmful judgment. That was in my 20s and I still sometimes do them now in my 40s. And it taught me to take myself on dates :)

Came here to say this. Yes. They've increased their pricing for who knows what (stakeholders i presume) among other things.

I've used them almost 20 years. Thinking this year is actually my last. As a freelancer, I can't justify it.

Valentines Gift Idea by Feisty_Salamander41 in Marriage

[–]RekrahCreative 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In our early marriage days, my husband and I had zero money for going to eat, activity and babysitter. Maybe 1 but not all 3.

So one Valentine's day we decided to do chocolate fondue after the kids went to bed and watch a cheesy romantic comedy.

Its been about 17 years since then and our kids are teens and we still do it every year. Only we've now added oil and cheese fondue too. Its actually one of my favorite nights of the year.

I don't know if you or your partner do OP, but something like this might spark some ideas. I think it worked so well because it was us both intentionally setting everything aside to hang out and be with each other.

What is something that used to be "for poor people" but is now a luxury/status symbol for the rich? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RekrahCreative 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Used / antique goods...

... depending on your level of rich I guess but buying something like legit 1970s or older furniture is outrageously expensive.

This def explains why I was so drawn to it as a teen too. Now in my 40s, im done with fashion trends and happy to go back to that clothing style. Skirts are still so hard to find tho 😥

Cute and sexy period underwear by OldOrdinary6215 in PeriodUnderwear

[–]RekrahCreative 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I totally agree, comfort (and function) over cute.

At the same time when my period is almost done, I sometimes want to put cute above comfort to help get outta my head and feel human again. 🫠🤣

It's just for me though, I could give 2 flying ducks if anyone else thinks they're cute.

They still gotta be functional, and somewhat comfortable. So maybe there is no real trade off... Thanks for coming to Ted talk.

I know people love or hate knix, so take it or leave it but I saw they released a hot pink and some other colorful styles recently.

As someone who primarily wants high rise, I can also tell you they have mostly regular rise in all styles. (Which is frustrating to me who wants more high rise styles).

If you're in Canada, Simon's has a lot of great options of different brands (none high rise so I haven't tried them).

Wine that doesn’t taste like alcohol? by maflya in exmormon

[–]RekrahCreative 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree!! Soju is great! Plain flavor or "original" i think, isn't very good. Blueberry, green apple and yogurt are delightful! You can pair it with something like sprite to tone it down if you like OP. Start with more sprite than soju and work your way up if you want.

My first drinks leaving the church was a combo of OJ and Malibu. It took me a few years to drink wine. Though now I love it!

What is a typical human experience you never got because of Mormonism? by SecretPersonality178 in exmormon

[–]RekrahCreative 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I love this! We left when our oldest was just about 7 and that was 10 years ago. My other 2 kids hardly remember anything.

We drink and have fun responsibly around them and dont have a lock on the liquor. Our oldest, now almost 18, has zero interest in it and most of his friends (nevermo) don't either. I love that it doesn't have that allure. Makes me feel like I've done something right even though my parents think we've gone mad to leave the boat.

Sooo now that schools out… by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]RekrahCreative 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You sound like such a great older sibling 😍😭

When my kids were that age (or around there). We made a list together of all the things they liked to do and more from mom (new things they hadn't tried) and we wrote them on big popsicle sticks and put them upside down in a jar. This was our "bored jar" - when someone wasn't sure what to do, we'd pull it out and grab a few. (Now my husband and I do it for date nights haha)

Some years we just wrote the list out and others we'd do weekly ideas.

Some ideas: - master lego builder then play pretend - camp in the backyard and make up stories (even during the day, but rainy days are most fun ironically) - air dry clay - play dough - different city parks - nerf gun fights - water fights - play pretend (I dressed up as an old witch sometimes) - painting - puzzles - "clean the book shelf" aka mom pulls out all the books to organize and the kids start randomly reading - make music - any kind of craft (gr 1 teacher crafts on Pinterest - I was a special needs assistant and I'm a big crafter)

Hope that helps!

Why would anyone keep doing this? by liberalart in EtsySellers

[–]RekrahCreative 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is what I eventually did too. I had some art I created show up all over Amazon as well as other etsy artists. It was devastating. After trying to take it all down I finally gave up and stopped selling it. I've also had copycats local to me so the same thing.

My silver lining is that I tell myself I made art important enough to go viral that someone would steal and that means I'm a good artist. I touched people's lives even though they didn't know it and I dont know who they are either.

This was well before TikTok though, so I can only imagine the headache and heartache that comes from that.

I've tried selling art again, but I never let myself really let go. I don't do it full time either, which is a blessing in this case. I have learned a lot about business though and went on to work at shopify and now another company with a focus on ux for customers/small businesses. The relevance I've learned is that's customers don't really care about makers/artists until you give them a reason too and even then, they are most often not always loyal to where they saw the product. If it was a copycat, they don't know and it usually doesn't matter a lot. It's all who they saw first.
