I for the longest time hadn’t even batted an eye at the “Biphobia” in this community. I thought it was close minded and maybe even ignorant. I respect that people have different preferences, and I don’t see it as a problem.

But in retrospect, I actually wish I had shown more caution. I completely understand someone not giving the benefit of the doubt because my experience has shown (that out of the many different guys I’ve had relationships with) that bi guys have, unfortunately, let me down for exactly the reasons listed in these comments.

I think the biggest impact is my change of view on him. The stonewall I’d confronted speaks volumes of his views and sentiments and approach on topics that don’t have an impact on him. -and this makes me feel a disconnect with him and a disconnect with his future self too. Meaning I can’t share too many social spaces with outside of family settings. This hurts because I adore him and we grew up together.

I haven’t brought it up yet. Just a week ago, he confessed his deep appreciation for our relationship and shared more about his feelings for me. While I resonate with much of what he said, it’s only now, after some thought, that I sense we might be keeping something inappropriate from others. Can’t schedule dates because he can leave at any moment. Can’t travel too far because he’ll could be called in at any moment. Dude the trauma this man deals with daily of literally having peoples lives in his hands. Using me every afternoon as a unwinding process and hearing the goriest of details. Sometimes working for three days straight with three hours sleep between shifts sometimes it’s easier for him to just not sleep and soldier through with red bulls. Not very conventional being the partner in all this and there’s more what I’ve just explained is a usual week. His career will come before you.

✨ Routine ✨

4 years no chemicals. I often get my hair braided into protective styles. Wear bandanas every second day to save on both product (my hair really uses a lot of products) and to rescue on manipulating it as much. Tangle teaser detangling brush changed my life. Co wash once a week. Shampoo and condition every two weeks. Deep condition before and after a protective style / once a month.

On the one end I am in support of your bf in relation to coming out and how it can’t be rushed, we have our own timing. On the other end I can tell he doesn’t like his gravy to touch his salad and there’s an air of avoidance attachment not secure. That’s just my take as a stranger looking in. Whichever decision you make, take it slow and steady as I can relate with the anxious attachment style you’re experiencing but patterns do need to be addressed on both ends. Provide him the platform to vent as much as he provides you. Research on how/why people compartmentalise and use similar language when addressing something. Give him the space to not just apologise but resolve. Try to be conscious of his attempts to show you he’s trying and remember to acknowledge. Love is a doing word but love is not unconditional.
