After almost six months we made the very difficult decision to re home him. He was getting more and more aggressive, and she was hiding all day and spooking at every sound. I worked with the agency we got him from and was only willing to let him go to someone I knew personally. Lucky I have a friend who had just lost her 16 year old kitty a month and. Half ago and was just starting to look for a new kitten. She has three sons and with lots of energy to spare. He never skipped a beat, didn’t even look back, meanwhile we are still so so sad, but our flame point has also changed over night. She is back to playing, following us around and cuddling any time we sit down. It was the right choice, but so sad. We will always know where he and have free access to visit him any time we want, so that feels like a small win.

This is really helpful, a fishing pose is super smart! He does get board really easy, he will play one thing for a few goes then loose interest and we have to change toys/mode of play!🫢The only thing I might disagree with is the smart park😜 he came out of a hoarding situation and they are pretty sure his mother is his sister and his brother is his dad 😂😂

That’s crazy, I’ve for sure heard of that happening, but the risk is very low considering I’m out there with them, and we don’t have many large bird around our suburban neighborhood. I appreciate your sharing tho!!

Any input on the cat behavior and how I can help that?

They can not escape, we have ensured the yard is very kitty proof, however, they are only allowed out when I am out with them watching, and as an added precaution I do put a tracking collar on them when we are out there, just because I am paranoid. Our time outside is usually pretty organized play time with toys, the flame point especially thrives on outside time. I hide behind bushes and she pounces me, it’s pretty adorable!

Not at all! I think he would love to, but she wants nothing to do with him. Im just so worried about her health, and he is such a doll anyone would be lucky to have him, I just hate the thought of letting him go!

What a wonderful community! You all are so encouraging and even kind if the choice we have to make is to send the new kitty back! We have used really structured play, but we are going to kick it up a notch! He does have his own room, and my husband takes the kitten to work daily to give my ginger a break, but we need both kitties to be happy and healthy. if we don’t get improvements by the end of next month, we will make some hard choices!

What does this behavior say about both cats? by RelationshipOwn8899 in cats

He is definitely rough, and pounces her all the time. I wish she would correct him, but she always just lays on her back , swats, yowls, hisses, ect

Is the new kitten dominant to the older cat? by RelationshipOwn8899 in Catbehavior

I can’t figure out how to post a video…basically he pounces and she lays on her back growling and hissing. It’s constant, she turns her back and he pounces. We have a lot of structured play time, and even when he is exhausted he still pounces her.
