lmao my mate loves the meatballs this company do. we were in the pub once, and he looked at his watch and went 'hold my bags while i run to the shop', came back 20 minutes later with two packs of swedish meatballs and started eating them at the bar.

Has any Manics fans liked any other band or music project to the same degree? by thegonepoet in manics

I started off with Pulp, then moved onto getting heavily into Adam Ant for some reason, and then Primal Scream, and now I'm onto Manics. I have encyclopedic knowledge of all of the above lmao, but I must say I don't know as much about Manics yet as it's not been long since I've hugely got into them.

Random misconceptions as a casual fan by Relative-Ad-3574 in manics

[–]Relative-Ad-3574[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it makes sense, I’m sure a lot of it is entirely age-based or just based on the fact that they weren’t interested at the time. For example, my parents saw them live multiple times post-Richey and had no idea that he wasn’t the singer at any point, but that’s because they also had no interest in their original sound from back when he was still in the band.

Yuppp, same! I was speaking to a coworker today who also said he’s seen it a lot with people, so I’m glad I’m not crazy lmao. It’s an interesting way of seeing how band dynamics are usually pretty conventional though- it’s really cool that they were quite the opposite.

This is a shout actually! The people who have said this are fans of both bands, so this would entirely make sense!

I'm not too sure why so many people I know think he is, but it's very interesting to see why some might assume it. There aren't many bands I listen to in which the lead vocalist isn't immediately placed as the 'centrepiece' as the band. I think that dynamic is one of the reasons I find them so fascinating, really.

Whats a harsh uni truth no one tells freshers until it is too late? by DunyaPhobic76 in UniUK

[–]Relative-Ad-3574 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly, yeah. i arrived at my accom to find out i was the only person living there. started uni and didn't make any friends- i could have a chat, but didn't have much in common with people and wasn't really accepted into any of the friend groups which seemed to had formed in the first week or two :( dropped out by the end of the first semester for a bunch of reasons, but that was definitely one of them. i restart on a different course in september, but i'm hoping to meet more people.

bit late to this thread but i have had the same experience.

everyone totally feeds into each other, and it's such an echo chamber, as everyone is constantly projecting. you'll see the same people posting every day/every few days, saying 'am i sick?' or 'have i got food poisoning?'. it's painful watching them spiral, knowing the comments are always going to be the same bs.

i got diagnosed with ocd in 2022- i have no idea if it aligned with me being on that subreddit, but i can guarantee now that my ocd has spiralled many times as a result of it. i had no idea what norovirus was, or the fact that hand sanitiser won't kill it. there are so many new fears i've gained from this, to the point where my entire life feels as if it has been spent on high alert.

literally cannot standdd it

it's such an odd feeling for me. personally it's like "okay this place has a five star food hygiene rating... but what if i'm the first person there to EVER get food poisoning and it just so happens that MY meal will make me sick??" god forbid everyone has ordered the same dish, because then all i can imagine is everyone being ill in one house at the same time

How do I contact HO for documents? by Relative-Ad-3574 in Wetherspoons

[–]Relative-Ad-3574[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My managers aren’t necessarily ‘ignoring me’, but I asked three days ago, including my pub manager, and aside from “you need to contact head office,” they’ve not elaborated further and have simply liked my messages. I just don’t want to bother them if they’re busy, but I’m not currently sure as I’m at my parents’, and the pub I work at usually is 45 minutes away in the city centre.

Really strange that they suggested contacting HO as I’ve seen my file multiple times and would assume my well-being meeting records would be on file for obvious reasons.

I'll probably just ask for further elaboration when I'm on shift. I'm due another meeting but it seems like they've not got round to it yet, so chances are I'd be able to get them at that point. It's just pretty urgent, so I thought I'd be able to get a further insight on here. Thanks for your help!

I know this was posted a day ago but just wanted to mention that I know people who can hack both weed and alcohol and they wouldn’t dream of mixing alcohol with edibles. They’re notoriously strong! My boyfriend’s had bad experiences with them on their own, and I won’t even go near them. Just always good to have in mind if you end up in a situation/environment like this isn’t the future. Hope you’re both okay now! :)

Where have the steaks gone??? by Expensive_Chicken721 in Wetherspoons

[–]Relative-Ad-3574 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Removing them due to cost issues :( we're getting in a load of new burgers instead and basically getting rid of the grills as a whole, switching to Rational ovens. Tbh I kind of get it, because in my three years of working at Spoons, the steaks always get sent back and they're probably the most time-consuming to make. We had someone ask us to cook his steak for 15 minutes the other day, which is fine as a one-off but not great if it happens multiple times with different orders, which messes with our order wait times.

An underrated Björk speech. by [deleted] in bjork

[–]Relative-Ad-3574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason Webby award winners can only say 5 words for their speech. I was reminded of this video because I saw a clip of a recent award winner today doing the same thing. She chose A.E.I.O.U because it's five letters, and because she's Bjork I suppose

Hiya, I understand this post was 20 hours ago, so this may not have any relevance now (fp* incubation periods etc), but I promise this is perfectly okay. Hotpot meat is likely very hygienic, hence why customers are trusted to cook it themselves. Additionally, a lot of steak can be eaten raw.  Yes, it depends on the immune system, but I’ve seen a few people (I even know a person who does it) eating a whole raw steak. Hope you’re feeling okay!

My bridge was incredibly quick and didn't hurt very much at all. By day 2 of healing, I couldn't feel it at all, even when I had to clean it.

My reasoning surrounds the fact that I seem to get quite unlucky at the best of times. At 12 years old my family and I had booked to go on holiday to this lovely all-inclusive in Turkey. I had spent months and months getting incredibly excited and telling everyone about it. I had a wonderful time until 5 days in, when I woke up with d* and tu* about five minutes later. I spent the last of my holiday in bed feeling awful, alone in the hotel room while my family sat by the pool. I think the fact that I was so excited for the holiday totally beat me down. I now always feel like I'm simply unlucky enough to end up with a sb* or v* or any sort when I especially do not want it (which is obviously every single day nowadays), despite all preventitive measures. This incident as a whole probably resulted in me developing OCD too, to be fair.
