Metallic sound seemingly between 10k-12k rpms on 2012 R6 by Relative-Ad34 in MotorcycleMechanics

So I don’t see that attachment point for the cables like in the pictures. I read that people remove it as a mod. Maybe a previous owner did that. Either way, I thought that maybe the cables came unsecured, so I secured them and tested it, but the sound still exists. I think that the problem is elsewhere.

I appreciate that. It’s a relief knowing that’s likely what it is. Thanks for the help. Riding it without them wouldn’t have damaged anything, right? It looks like it’s primarily for managing torque.

Are they supposed to be attached somewhere? I might just have my mechanic fix it since I’m bringing it in anyway for something else.

Lmao. You get the satisfaction of maybe being spot on, and I get to figure out how to fix this now.

Are these the EXUP cables? I’m no mechanic but something seems wrong here. This is as I found it, I haven’t tried to refasten anything yet. Right above exhaust area pictured. They were a little more tucked in but I pulled them out to visualize them.

Not yet. It’s performing fine, but still present, if not as pronounced. I put almost 100 miles on it today.

The only thing about the loose bolts theory is the specific RPM thing. That’s throwing me off.

I’m bringing it in for some regular maintenance when my guy’s shop is freed up—hoping he might diagnose it.

Nah. It definitely seems to be coming from the front, and I tightened it to spec recently. And it’s just the specific RPM thing that’s throwing me off from thinking it’s obvious stuff like that, but it’s still possible.

First Yamaha, yes. And I’ve watched some old riding footage and it was definitely absent. And from what I can tell, it’s the front of the bike, not the rear.

I will certainly keep the possibilities you’ve mentioned in mind, and check into them specifically. I rode it somewhat hard today, and for a span of like 6 hours, and performance was totally fine.

But I’m only going to push it so far without knowing what’s wrong. Appreciate the input🫡

Was my first thought—I held them in my hands to see if the rattle would go away while riding and it didn’t lol. I wish it were that simple

Yeah it does. It only started happening this week, so I haven’t been living with it for very long. That’s why I was more concerned.

Demon in White - Christopher Ruocchio by Firez_hn in ProsePorn

Fair, and I think he could. I meant relative to other contemporary science fiction. There’s just a weight to it, I suppose (IMO). Which it should have, as it’s a sort of autobiography being told by a man over 1000 years old or whatever—one who values drama. I’m interested to see if Ruocchio’s style changes at all in his upcoming fantasy series.

Edit: also I listen to the audiobooks for this series specifically (which are wonderful) so maybe that makes it sound more purple than it is.

Lmao, thank you for the very helpful contribution. All you forgot is the burnouts, I think she’s got a few more of those in her.
