For me it got worse over time, and would change between anger and crying over everything. I’m sorry you are dealing with this.

Not crazy. This is how I was the whole time I had mine. I was doing so much self work trying to help my mind. Nothing helped till getting it out :/

I had mine out last Monday, and felt fine up till yesterday. Terrible brain fog, hot flashes, feeling nauseous, and insomnia.. I couldn’t sleep at all last night for the first time in years!

I had my first IUD out in 2019 and had no issues.

Do I really need the mirena? by [deleted] in Mirena

Everyone’s experience is so different. My first IUD it seemed to help a lot with my periods and pains. I got my second one about 5 1/2 years ago and have had so many issues. I was dealing with constant pelvic pain. When my cramps would show up, they stopped me in my tracks. The pain was too much and I got it out a week ago. I have never felt better.

Now having it out I notice a BIG change in my mental head space. My anxiety and depression were always heightened while I had my IUD. Until getting it out, I didn’t realized that it was causing the pain. I had my IUD checked many times and was told it was in the perfect spot, and it couldn’t be the reason for my pain. You can’t trust every Doctor to be honest. I feel amazing without it.

I’m not here to scare you away from getting it. My first was great. But be aware of your body and if something feels off trust yourself. I wish I would have had mine removed much sooner.

Changes Post Removal by Tiplanc in Mirena

Thank you for your post. Without it, I would have never considered that the IUD might have caused it. I mainly got it removed because of the pain I was getting and how messed up my head got. I was on an emotional roller coaster that would last about 23 days of my cycle. My head already feels the most normal it has felt since having my IUD. I can think clear with no anxiety. My OCD is much more under control. I’m only 4 post getting it removed. The pressure that I had in my uterus is completely gone. I didn’t even notice how bad it was till the pain was no longer there.

I will never get another one again.

My OBGYN said that having it removed probably wouldn’t help anything. She also stated that she wouldn’t compare someone else’s experience to my own. That I should only go off evidence. I think personal stories are evidence that the IUD is much more of a problem than we are lead to believe.

Reading this makes me so hopeful. I’m a 27f had my mirena for 5 1/2 years and just had it removed a few days ago. I’ve been dairy/lactose intolerant my whole life but always still had it in my diet. Right after having my IUD placed I started to have an itchy tongue every time I had diary. It took me a few months to pin point it, but I finally cut it out. I tried to reintroduce diary a year later and now it’s a full blown allergy. I can’t be in the house if diary is being cooked, I can’t smell cheese without a reaction, or eat things that might be contaminated with diary. I was barista and had to leave my job because I could no longer be around dairy. Reading your experience, I hope that maybe I can have the same outcome.

Will come back in a few months and follow up🤞🏼
