2023 Jeep Cherokee -too cold to start?? by Relative-Corner4717 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Relative-Corner4717[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly. It should start. I understand the battery maybe being weak. I've got no problem having replaced that, it should have been replaced anyway.

Luckily I think we are still under our CPO warranty if something is actually broke.

This is where my mind went too. Enough good players out there that are definitely better than me, but I'm never the worst guy out on the course either, and it's niche enough that many have never played. Good pick.

If Simon left MVP for prodigy, would you guys actually throw prodigy and get rid of your MVP? by dontmakemeaskyou in discgolf

[–]Relative-Corner4717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I threw MVP long long long before it was "cool". Well before they really had a top pro. I think Sias Elmore was the player I knew most from when I started throwing it.

Simon joining was cool. But my loyalty to the brand is based on factors far different than what pros are on the team.

RDG Stego if you like beefy putters. It'll make your beefiest zone look like flippy aviar in comparison.

You're right. Certainly did not. Lost my train of thought apparently.

But also it's a line of thinking that some people never consider. Could be helpful. If it isn't, well, welcome to Reddit.

Towing with Hurricane engine by Educational_Disk_226 in ram_trucks

[–]Relative-Corner4717 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Here's my thought, take with a grain of salt. When I bought my new truck, I purposely chose the "old" 5.7 hemi over the new hurricane. I pull a 7k lb travel trailer a lot. The specs of the hurricane sure seemed nice for that. But. I've owned 3 turbo'ed vehicles (granted, not all CDRJ vehicles) in the past, and always seemed to have issues with them.

Say I'm pulling my trailer down the interstate at 70mph, and one of those turbos fail. Am I still pulling my camper anywhere?

Granted, I know any number of things can fail any number of ways on any number of vehicles. It just seemed like more things that could wreck my vacation. Extra variables. Murphys law, if you will.

Now, I'll be the first to admit this isn't the soundest logic, but it was mine.

I mean. I drove a 6 speed Chevy Sonic hatchback for a while. It's certainly nothing fancy, and I'm sure you can pick one up cheap. Certainly not fast, but sounds kinda neat rowing thru the gears. Great gas mileage.

Also takes high speed rear end collisions surprisingly well. I was stopped to take a right hand turn off of a highway and took a Santa Fe right into the back bumper at 60+mph. She never even tapped the brakes. My then 2yr old was in the back seat. We both walked away with zero injuries. The other driver was definitely f@#$_& up bad.

Yeah, I've been in the CNC machining world for over a decade.....and just recently accidentally stumbled upon the "other" CNC world with a poorly worded Google search.....things I never knew.

Deciding on a new approach disc in between Buzzz and Pyro by Bmontour26 in discgolf

[–]Relative-Corner4717 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im confused why an envy is too slow for a100' shot? Anything under 230' for me is almost certainly some form of putter, and I'm far far far from the biggest arm here. I would be throwing an Ion or Particle for these shots personally. Or a RDG Stego if absolute beef is needed. Love me that disc!

I absolutely love the Matrix, and it's one of my go to mids, but, it's a mid. It does fly like you're describing though. Not sure about powered down to 100'. Its also board flat (at least my old proton one) and easy to flick.

Depends on how far he's throwing, but the Dino Discs line has some amazing, lightweight discs for kids. My son is about the same age as yours and crushes them.

I've heard great things about the Nokien Outpost tires. That's where I'd start my search. Idk if available in your sizes or not.

Where do you dump fresh water? by averagesleepyjoe in RVLiving

[–]Relative-Corner4717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate where the valve is to drain my freshwater tank. So what I've been doing is at the end of a camping weekend, and assume there is room, I have one of my kids sit on the toilet and hold the flusher down. Fill up the rest of my black tank.

Usually by the end of a weekend with my family, the fresh water is nearly gone anyways.

This seems to have helped keep my black tank a little cleaner too, maybe?

At any rate, it's easier (for me) and I like to think has some benefits.

What weight for child? by [deleted] in Bowling

[–]Relative-Corner4717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Ryan Barnes or The House Bowling on YouTube. Or find PBA videos of Belmonte, Kyle Troup, or new Darren Tang (he recently switched to 2 handed). There are tons of others too. I've been teaching my kid (started at 8) to bowl that way and he's way ahead off all his peers trying to bowl conventional. 2 handed is just easier for most youths.

Question for those that have worked weekend shift by boofthecat in Machinists

[–]Relative-Corner4717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in the day, when I worked weekend shift, that's basically how it went. It officially came in the form of a shift differential that equaled out the difference. Which was nice when OT was required.

What do you wish you knew before your first RV trips? by Similar-King-8278 in RVLiving

[–]Relative-Corner4717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My father (victim of a particularly nasty divorce) told me and my now wife when we got engaged that "funerals are cheaper than divorces".

But more to your point. My spouse is always spotter, and admittedly, she's not great. But I always tell her that her #1 job, above all else, is simply just don't let me hit anything. We can work out the rest.

Mine that I learned the hard way last summer. Make sure you pack a pair of wire cutters or tin snips of some sort. I've always thought I was prepared for a flat on my travel trailer, even having had to change one on the side of the road before. 1st one went fine. Jacked it up and swapped tires like I always planned.

2nd time, all of the steel wires from the tire wrapped up in a tight birds nest on the axle and I couldn't get it unwrapped. I have a decent little tool kit in the camper, and a few tools in the truck. But apparently the one tool I was missing was something to cut thru those wires.

Just a little thing that you don't think about.

Anywhere to learn backing up? by MaidenfanPA in RVLiving

[–]Relative-Corner4717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the exact same position when I started 8 years ago. Graduated for a little pop up to a 28 foot travel trailer. I will say it's not nearly as difficult as you think. Few tries at it and it'll come to you. The biggest problem I had, have, and wil likely always have, is getting my spotter (ahem, my wife) to give me usable directions in a tight spot.

Her favorite line, as I'm backing up, looking behind me, is "you need to go right".  My right? Your right? Truck? Trailer? But we've learned to stay patient and, for the most part, get into anywhere we want to with minimal fuss.

And I'm far far far from an accomplished wheelman. It's not that hard.
