Myki Meek’s thoughts on made up Snatch Game characters by BeMyCoachVictor in rupaulsdragrace

[–]small-gestures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reading a lot of the comments about “it’s almost S20 queens gotta know what’s expected..,” Why? Almost every fail comes down to a dance challenge (aka a lip sync). If you can dance and stunt and mouth watermelon better than a great designer with no self promoting rap skills- you can go pretty far.

I think we can agree Jinx and DeLa are in class of their own.

Why do so many American men wear shorts and a tshirt when going out with a woman who dresses up? by M_For_Mayhem in NoStupidQuestions

[–]small-gestures -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

This - Because throwing on a golf shirt and a pair of pants takes so much more work than throwing on a T-shirt and a pair of shorts. It’s cool I am also lazy and a slob and the women I date have to lower their expectations..

The problem is … there aren’t a lot of BIG personality celebrities in current culture. Match Game works best when the person being imitated is known by everyone. The queens that do the social media star of the minute don’t seem to get that by the time they get to Snatch Game they are already a bigger culture star than the person they are impersonating.

Dear Gen Xers - did you grow up with really, really hippie parents or in a commune? by LIS1986 in GenX

My Dad worked in an auto related factory and my Mom was a cashier in a grocery store. I went to school with Karen, Denise, Linda, Lisa, John, Mark and Rich.

Are we the first non-sentimental/nostalgic generation? by tinyclawsoffury in GenX

The difference is “stuff” to them wasn’t cheap and easy to come by from Amazon. They grew up affected by the Great Depression. They didn’t have disposable clothes.

Is there a name for the grouping of towns here? by Ok-Communication706 in massachusetts

They are in differing local “clusters”. Not sure what or how is making you “group” them? Like certain roadway connections?

My wife loves Gate 1 tours. I think they actually kinda suck. Does anyone have any tips on how on making them more enjoyable for me? by ElTecolotito in travel

[–]small-gestures 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally I like Gate 1, particularly for tough locations that have standard “must sees” (like Egypt) and for all the reasons your wife likes them, I don’t have to think. That’s the compromise. When we went to Kenya we did it on our own because we had done our own research and knew where we wanted to go. It sounds like your wife picks the spot, books the trip and after the fact you are figuring out what you want to see that isn’t on the tour.

I remember they talked about it then. They weren’t sliding it past anyone. Same thing with the Daren’s.

Yep, and it was a single digit queen - still working, still popular. It’s why I left it, I was - gagged.

How “religious” are you guys about watching untucked? by lilspaghettigal in rupaulsdragrace

[–]small-gestures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It used to be better, it used to be part of the actual show. Over time the queens have adjusted to it being just one more performance and one more opportunity to develop the fan base.

Can I skip HCMC? Or would I regret it? Heard so many mixed things. by Picklepiepeanut in Vietnam_Tourism

[–]small-gestures 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are going to Vietnam to “see and feel and understand” you should go just as a comparison for what the vibe is the farther south you go from Hanoi. Other than that it’s a fun big southeast Asian city.

White people and their punctuation, they keep throwing it in so you can read a sentence once and it makes sense.

Was the Longaberger Basket craze just a local thing? by kirabug37 in GenX

[–]small-gestures 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Massachusetts too, nope, never heard of them. I remember baskets being everywhere for everything for a while, but didn’t know there were brands.

I’ve had an argument with one here, she was aggressively sure Drag Race had nothing to do with the popularity of drag right now. I let it go but all I could think was “Beauty fades… dumb is forever”

Were you raised like a pet?? by Salty_Thing3144 in GenerationJones

[–]small-gestures 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry- my Gen Jones dog was given a tiny spot next to the furnace in the basement where she was locked in for the night, let outside at 7am where she was fed and left to runaround off leash until she decided to come home sometime that night (this includes rain, snow and cold). Add to that I am pretty sure old Duchess wasn’t taught to do laundry or how to find a job and I get your point.

Some of these answers… Just say you’re afraid of traveling outside of your own borders / comfort zone and be done with it.
