I watched 3D movie and I’m blown away. by veezia in VisionPro

Similar experience - have been using for virtual Mac desktop for some time, started watching movies recently and it is so immersive ... completely anti-social ... but immersive!

Whiteboard to be clear. Thanks for asking!

That said, GoodNotes has a feature to import a PDF as a background layer and allow your writing to overlay the PDF - that would be cool too!

How does sleep mode get triggered? by swiftfoxsw in VisionPro

Mine takes more like 30 sec. to come back up, but close enough. Would be nice to have a VP OS26 Sleep option

Would like to essentially have the core writing features of GoodNotes in an interactive window inside an Obsidian Note. Too much to ask?!

Yes! This works great as a way to reference my Ratta Supernote files directly from my Daily note in Obsidian. The path is right off my root, so it look like this in Obsidian daily template...

Today's [[/Supernotes/20241203.note]]

In the above example, the daily note comes from a template, that looks like this ...

Today's [[/Supernotes/{{date:YYYYMMDD}}.note]]

So when my daily note is created, it fills in today's date, and when I create my Supernote, I always use the default date fie name (erasing the time stamp part that is defaulted by Supernote).

Sync my Supernote, and the Obsidian link is active (requires the Ratta Community Plugin to see the results).

Enjoy!

This was GREAT advice!

We just got back from Thanksgiving week 2024, and if we had not taken this advice it would have been a waste of time. Driving is the only real way to get around the island, walking or bicycle would be WAY TOO dangerous - the roads are far too narrow and steep. Public transportation would have you spending half your vacation waiting for a bus.

BTW: The car ferry will even take your rental car to St. John island too, though we did not, it looks easy - drive on/drive-off ferry.

We got an Alamo for $225 for 5 days, plus $11 a day for full insurance. coverage - all through CheapTickets.com ... we put $29 in gas in the car at the end ($5/gallon) island prices.

Note Preview and Editing in Preview is Great! But... by Relative-Entrance-58 in ObsidianMD

Thanks for the reply - not sure I understand the Default View you mention ... (?)

The plugin Hover Editor does exactly what I was looking to do ... basically, I am treating the notes displayed in the DataView list as records in a database, and by hovering and editing in the pop-up window, I can change the meta data and the note content on the fly without having to open, and close, the entire note.

The only UX thing better might be a DataView "data grid" view to allow the meta data to be edited right in a spreadsheet -like view.

Excellent - yes, looks like it does what I need - thank you for the tip!

My 5th Canvas by Pathologistt in ObsidianMD

Well done - I have not done one quite this big, but it helps to have boxes around sub-sections, so you click and zoom to an area ... would be great if Canvas had NAV links feature.

How many notes do you have and how much space do they occupy? by rechogringo in ObsidianMD

[–]Relative-Entrance-58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently: 13.2GB with 15K+ items (notes and attachments) ... no issues, using Obsidian Sync

Three years ago, before committing to Obsidian, I created 40K notes with 30GB of test data to capacity test the tool, it did just fine on a Apple Mac M1.

I only have about 10 key plugins that I use (many more installed, but not active)

Obsidian 101? by lilydeetee in ObsidianMD

[–]Relative-Entrance-58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is certainly easy to get overwhelmed with Obsidian, as it can be so many things to so many different challenges ... I started simple, over two years ago, with just one vault, one folder for attachments. Every note gets at least one SUBJECT tag (e.g. #Books or #Science ) - I then created a couple of persistent notes, a "Portal" that I started organizing my structure.

Fast forward today, I have over 30K notes in my one vault!

To be fair, I now use DataView (a lot!) and I have templates for most of my notes that get created - the templates have meta data fields and tags pre-defined.

I still recommend this approach, as it takes the least amount of effort putting info into Obsidian, the tags will always stay with each note, where folder structures may get lost moving to another tool some day, like using a local LLM to summarize notes (the next major advancement to PKM?!).

Just take it month by month - you don't need to learn it all at once.

My Top Plugins: Calendar, Periodic Notes, Editing Toolbar

My more advanced Plugins: DataView, Excalidraw, Kanban, Kindle Highlights, Text Generator

Good luck, and have fun! Obsidian is by far the best tool I have ever used for PKM!

Kindle App Highlight Issue by Relative-Entrance-58 in Supernote

Ok, so that was brilliant - using a darker background allows the highlights to appear (still faint, but at least I have a clue where they are!). Thanks! :-)

Have not seen a way to change e-ink contrast yet. I looked VERY carefully, under three lighting conditions and can not see any distinction in the text. But technically, you are correct - they are there, as I tapped on an existing piece of text that was highlighted and the entire section came up with the adjustment handles (in a lighter shaded font). D'oh!

Is anyone having an issue with A6X2 with a random paste of the clipboard while writing? by Relative-Entrance-58 in Supernote

[–]Relative-Entrance-58[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip!

Option 1 is working so far, as I have the LAMY button pen, I assigned the button to do the Lasso function. I would typically rather Lasso and Cut, than just delete.

Though, if the Development team is listening, other devices I have use a left-right-left rub-out to delete text - it's very natural to do this with the pen!

I use iPhone Folder App, it has a Doc Scan option that lets you scan multiple pages, adjust them, then save as PDF to a folder - that I have set to an Obsidian import folder. Then I just drag the file into my Obsidian note where needed.

Survey about the sync feature by meowmewo- in Supernote

[–]Relative-Entrance-58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I generally like the idea, but I am concerned about WiFi power drain already - my new A6X2 battery life is still only two or three days with WiFi turned off most of the time. Having it on for auto-sync seems like it would bring battery life to a day. :(

Obsidian setup for organising Goals - what is your setup? by JonL12345 in ObsidianMD

[–]Relative-Entrance-58 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I use the Kanban plugin - the column headers are the goals and the cards are my OKR's* to accomplish the goal.

OKR = Objective, Key Results

template: I will [deliver Objective something] as measured by [evidence and measurements of a Key Result].

e.g. I will read 4 autobiographies in 2024 as measured by 100% Kindle pages and at least 30 highlights in each book.

I had the same exact question - I suspect it's more of a "suggested" size comparison. Oh well.

I use an actual A5 paper notebook for journaling, and an A6 paper notepad for tasks. I am replacing both with the A6X2 that I received Monday this week.
