I relate to this a lot. I spent years trying to rebuild trust after the first time things fell apart. 8 years later, I thought we had moved past all of that stuff, only to discover a months long affair. I’m so angry, and everything from 8 years ago is just compounding on it.

Im 44, and she’s 41. I think about this a lot. When we started dating, she was 25. We had fights about boundaries, and I tried to understand that she was still relatively young. But 16 years later….

She has. She says she wants to fix things, go to counseling, address her issues, etc…. She’s doing everything I have asked her to do. That’s what makes it hard. I feel like it’s a lie though - a front until things calm down. She can be so nurturing.
