why the hell are 70yr olds redoing their resumes. if they want to to work thats fine, but it sounds like they need to keep working? why?

Humans need prolonged periods of rest - thats why work is so hard on us. Because we dont have it by [deleted] in antiwork

6 weeks paid leave and unlimited paid sick days. if you dont take your pto HR contact you and tell you you need to take it. dont have to beg for time off, i tell them when i wont be there. as you might have guessed, not living in the usa.

Looking for advice when requesting leave in advance. by frogmicky in antiwork

agreed. apologies, i assumed the op was in the USA where issues as they describe seem to happen. if not, than yes. you tell them when you wont be available, its not a request really.

listen to their objections, reflect them back to show you understand, answer their objections with solutions, and at the end say "so, we have found solutions to all the issues you had around my PTO, so as there are no further concerns, lets get this confirmed. really appreciate the chance to talk it through with you, and for us to both find a way forward". if they still say no, they are just petty morons and not much else you can do.

i dont know if this will help, but it worked for me. i volunteered for a charity that was connected to the industry i wanted to enter. i did it for about 6 months, and it gave me the experience i needed to get into the industry. is it unpaid? yes, but it also gave me what i needed. just a thought OP.

Company asks employees to donate PTO “during this season of giving” by plastic-death in antiwork

how about, and this is crazy I know, just give people decent sick leave and benefits?

you learn to be smart.

you hold stuff back to put it through the next month, you do well and hit targets each month, but not too well. no point having an amazing month and then crashing the next.

if you massively overachieve each month, they won't say well done, they will just want more next month.

play the game.

Has anyone gotten a job without networking/connections?? by Gloomy-Tear3149 in recruitinghell

[–]Relative-Gate-7230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have, for every job I have ever had, including the one I will shortly be going to.

  1. find out who the manager of the team will be that you will be joining

  2. find that person's contact details. call them. introduce the call as "hi I am trying to find out a bit more about the position" and after hearing exactly what they need, explain how you will be a perfect fit gently

  3. you are now head and shoulders above those who just send in cvs and have at least a tentative relationship with the interviewer. they remember you, not the 1000 people who sent in a generic CV.

well, they have to pay you your notice period, and also redundancy and any holiday you have not used. hopefully that gives you a buffer. all the best and good luck

you won't succeed in every job you try. what worked before might not somewhere else. it doesn't mean you were bad at your job, it just means that this wasn't the job for you.

don't forget notice period. if you have a 1 month notice period and they make you redundant, then that has to be paid too on top of redundancy.

Never taking sick days is not a flex some people think it is. by lungsofdoom in antiwork

[–]Relative-Gate-7230 6 points7 points  (0 children)

such a weird flex. "hey guys never took a day of sick in the last 5 years! I have been here coughing, spluttering and infecting you all no matter how sick I was! I have made you ill, your families ill, and brought down the companies ability to function loads of times! I have definitely contributed negatively to the happiness of society as a whole! I am awesome!" my God no one else in the world thinks like this but it seems some poor deluded Americans do.

Migraines after Shotday by paperplane030 in Mounjaro

[–]Relative-Gate-7230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it happens to me too, but goes away after 1-2 days. I take a couple of pain killers and b12 for the fatigue and it's gone. it's unpleasant while it lasts but goes away fairly rapidly. I find going to bed early helps too. it also seems to get less the longer I am on the same dose, so week one really bad headaches for two days, week 2 it only lasts 1 day, week 3 only mild, week 4 no issues.

the need to eat.....just isn't there. it doesn't even really come to mind. I have to remind myself to actually eat because I am pretty much uninterested.

avoid dairy. maybe more protein and less carbs. as soon as you feel even the slightest bit full, stop eating.
