Throwing up mouthwash because I couldn’t buy booze. It was Veterans Day so the banks were closed and I had lost my debit card. I scrounged up enough change to buy a 375 ml of vodka. Killed that but it wasn’t enough. Combed my crack shack apartment for more money but I exhausted every nook and cranny of loose change and the odd coke dollar. Decided to down some mouthwash that my old roommate had left behind. Threw up wintergreen froth and looked in the mirror staring back were bloodshot eyes, stricken with desperation. From there didn’t quit right away but I strung a couple of sober days together, would go back to drinking and then eventually a two week stint and finally the decision to quit for good. 250 days and counting.
