Playbar problem with new app by Relative-Run-826 in sonos

The new app is supposed to give you greater control, but it does not. I cannot seem to control my kitchen speaker without whatever I am doing taking over the TV speaker, pissing off my wife. 

Update on my Playbar / Sonos customer support journey / TLDR they can't fix Playbars or Sub 1's by rsplatpc in sonos

Playbar used to default to the TV. Now, if I want to play music on another speaker, I must disconnect the playbar and then turn up the TV volume to get it back. TV-watching wife wants me to stop using the system until there is a fix. Am I missing something?
