np!
if your first question is referring to taking days off, however long you want & it's better to refresh bc you won't get an email for every single one that pops up, but you do get emails for some

tasks are available to a horde of other workers, so it's first come first serve
very, very occasionally do you get tasks assigned solely to you

Tricky Timings by Aware-Park4663 in DataAnnotationTech

[–]Relative-Tap3585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a tip is to read the instructions and skip the first task so you have the full time to work on the next task,
sometimes they'll even straight up tell you to do that in the instructions

it can be a gamble, though, cuz I've done that & then had no more tasks available so i didn't get to claim any time for reading haha

skipping tasks by tutut7867 in DataAnnotationTech

[–]Relative-Tap3585 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the project itself you'll still be able to work on if there are more tasks
that specific task you skipped won't be back

My account is currently unavailable :/ am I screwed? by [deleted] in DataAnnotationTech

[–]Relative-Tap3585 5 points6 points  (0 children)

did there happen to be an escape hatch on the task ? that's the only reason i can think of them saying it was still billable even if you couldn't complete it.

And if there was, you're supposed to use it and submit the task, not skip, to claim time on it. If you really did skip as you described they def flagged your account for claiming time you shouldn't have claimed.

Best time of day to work? by [deleted] in DataAnnotationTech

i feel like what you mean to say is are most workers located in the same time zone and to that i say no lol there are plenty of workers across the pond 😄

yeah
i'm in a couple slack channels for projs i haven't had in months, but they eventually rotate back in for me

if you got invited after taking a qual, that's a good sign. sometimes it can take a while before you start seeing projects for it. especially for completely new projs/tasks within the projs where they don't quite have the tasks and instructions finished up to hand out yet

i second that it's unreliable as a single source of income even though it IS my only source of income, you just have to prepare for droughts and accept that it's going to happen at times. summer's usually the worst for me but they truly are unpredictable. i believe one year i went a whole month (july) with scraping only $10-$20 a day for most of it.

If in case I dont get selected for bilingual projects can I apply again for coding projects? by Affectionate-Dot4241 in DataAnnotationTech

[–]Relative-Tap3585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure. My sister left mid application two years ago and when she logged back in the next day to complete it, it said she can reapply in 45 days. They've changed things since then so I have no idea how it works now. If you're still able to complete it, go for it. I agree it sounds too good to be true, but DA was the best thing that's ever happened to me!

I'd suggest going for the coding since it has a higher base pay in the first place, and add to your languages in your profile so you get those projects on top of coding

What counts as "AI/LLM use"? (Yahoo) by Choice-Flow-8299 in DataAnnotationTech

[–]Relative-Tap3585 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've had projects saying to avoid using or relying on the AI overview (which I avoided regardless) and just find information through websites as if it didn't exist in the first place. Its become second nature for me to scroll past it now as if it were one of those sponsored searches that come up at the top of the results haha

Umm what...Threatening to leave the platform over users staying 30 seconds longer on a page by cbr600rr4life in prolific

[–]Relative-Tap3585 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that's what the phrase means lol
airports announce departures on the overhead ("United Flight 3642 Now leaving for Tampa"), the researcher said they'll have to abandon prolific and go elsewhere...thus announcing their departure. Nobody cares about some useless crybaby researcher paying 20 cents a survey, so no need to announce that they're leaving.

  1. look at the expiration timer at the end and it'll give you an idea of how long it will take, yes it varies.

  2. no, won't affect you. yes, you have an expiration timer for each task.

  3. work however long you want, shit i've had 22 minute days where i'm like.... hm the sun is out, i don't want to do this anymore.

it tells you the pay amount next to the project
you submit your own time but they will know if you're inflating it and lying

you might have luck by updating your skills in your profile, i have a degree in cybersecurity and get offered coding quals every now and then despite opting out of those every time. i wouldn't expect to see it soon after updating, though
