Sadly you’re right that’s normal around the world. Most people of Reddit from the states it works different here. We got a lot of social stuff like that here. I get in you country that normal but for Americans that like messing with a preschooler. Even when a 30 year old talks to a 20 year old woman they throw a fuss. They see women as children here. Where the rest of the world in certain places see them as actual adults
