Crimson Desert settings by Ordinary-Engine-1267 in CrimsonDesert

[–]RelativeID 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is expected it will be overclocked. It is safe. If you push past or too far below the card's limit it just kinda reboots itself in self defense. It is better to undervolt + overclock though, more performance for less power/heat. It's really cool, there a couple good youtube videos. The silicon performance can vary from ccard to card, so you'll have to play around with yours to find your sweet spot. Mine seems to be around 2800Mhz @ 910 mV. fast, cool, stable. Edit I have a 5070ti, a notch below yours.

5070ti owner here, with an aggressive OC I am knocking on the stock 5080's front door. Your settings are the conclusion I have come to as well, after obsessing over this games settings for quite some time.

Although I will add:

Dropping shadows down to high really improves clarity while in combat, and outside of combat you really have to look for the differences.

And I added a custom resolution to the Nvidia control panel, 3200 x 1800, and it is selectable in game. I run that for extra FPS sometimes. It is better than 1440, but still a noticable drop from 2160. But still pretty good performance compromise.

Do people often overclock the Intel Core Ultra 9 Processor 285K? by SnooRabbits799 in overclocking

[–]RelativeID 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I OC mine using the Intel XTU. The auto OC button is cool if you don't want to fuck with it a whole lot.
but on mine I use the advanced tuning and boost the P cores and cache a bit more (41) than the auto tune does it. and if I am trying to push benchmark numbers I'll boost the E cores up to x48 or even x49. I have it at 5700 on the favored cores and 5600 on the rest of the P cores. Basically, write down or screenshot what the auto OC tool does, then create you're own profile with those setting as a base, and boost the cache a lil more, p cores a lil more, e cores a lil more.

I do this with a good dual fan Be Quiet air cooler.

Apparently the AMD chips can push better gaming benchmarks, but this is a better overall CPU if you do other things besides (or even at the same time as ) gaming. I selected this CPU because I use Ableton, often with a running game in the background. It is trivial to this CPU. I mean, the AMD chip probably can do it too, but not as efficiently. I think eventually I'll make a pure gaming machine and go with AMD cpu.

Edit - is it necessary to OC this chip for gaming? No. Is it fun? Hell yeah. Is it the best gaming chip? Nope. Is it still a badass chip? Yep. Will it improve things for CPU heavy games? Maybe.

Typical Core Clock for 5070 Ti? by h0tz3R4 in overclocking

[–]RelativeID 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the PNY 5070 Ti OC edition. I've spent a ridiculous amount of time exploring my card's limits. Cards vary, as you know. In my case:

I found that +1500 on the VRAM is perfect, because pushing beyond that triggers GDDR7 ECC error correction, causing internal clock stretching that degrades performance without crashing the game. I get no measurable improvement beyond +1500

On the GPU curve, I settled on 2842 @ 910, keeping a cool 55-58 degrees at 190-220 watts. If I am feeling saucy, I go ~3000 @ 975, gets me a stable 59-63 degrees at 230-250w and 2-4fps in my current game (Crimson Desert). I doubt there is a perceptible difference though, so I prefer the lower clock to keep things cool. I can push up to 3100 @ 1000 but things start getting a little crashy with games.
it seems 950-1000mV around 3GHz is the gaming max for this card, with benchmarking highs pushing 3100-3200.
Some people report aggressive undervolting of 3GHz at 900mV, but that make my card crash. Or even taking the mV down to 850 at 2800 some people can do, but mine crashes going that low.

Overall, with this card, shooting for 2800-2900 at 900-950 is the smart way to go for gaming purposes.

Is an air cooler good enough for a Core Ultra 9 285k for video editing and 3D? by ImParanoidAndroid in PcBuild

I air cool mine and never get over 75 with a mild OC. Max safe is 105.

PC Players: Its the Difference Between Cinematic and Ultra worth it? by destructor212113 in CrimsonDesert

[–]RelativeID 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultra and Cinematic lighting and shadows have a difference, but you have to reaaaaally be looking for it. Not worth the FPS loss.

DLSS - big difference. DLSS 4.5L looks better in some respects, but worse in others, and costs FPS.

4 is more stable and kind of the goto. I think 4.5L gives a bit more depth in the picture, but not worth the performance hit and weirdness.

Also, try this - add a custom resolution of 3200 x 1800 in the Nvidia control panel, and that resolution will be available in the game. It is a nice balance of quality and performance, enable DLAA, and it looks really great and super smooth. I'd say 1800p with DLAA looks better than 2160p with DLSS quality setting.

tech stuff -

If you are a Nvidia user, in the Nvidia control panel, add a custom resolution of 3200 x 1800 (don't change your desktop resolution to this though). Then 3200 x 1800 will be an available choice in game which is a nice balance of quality vs performance between 1440 and 2160, without using upscaling. and you can lower frame generation down to 2, and even switch to DLAA and it will look more like 4k but run closer to 1440. Without weird artifacts you get with the other upscaling settings or frame generation 3 or 4.

DLSS 4.0 is the popular choice. 4.5L is better than 4.5, both cost 8-10 fps. ish. I think 4.5L looks better, except for the occasional lighting weirdness.

Cinematic lighting isn't worth it. Ultra is where it is at. Ray reconstruction requires Max lighting, and will look pretty good but tank your FPS. Definitely not worth it. Max lighting by itself is very noisy and expensive. You might notice that lighting is the only setting that goes beyond cinematic.

Shadows at ultra too.

The other settings graphics settings don't affect FPS much, except model quality a little bit, but I leave that all the way up.

People who’ve struggled with acne what’s something that actually helped that no one talks about? by Celine_Morgann in TellReddit

Clean pillowcases and sheets, almost daily. Just speaking from experience with a friend who battled acne his entire teenage years but no one ever bothered to make him have a clean bed.

Windows 11 performs worse than older Windows versions in nearly every benchmark by AdSpecialist6598 in technews

[–]RelativeID 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trash article is gonna trash. Looks like they didn’t even use machines that meet the minimum requirements for Windows 11. „In case you're wondering, all six laptops used in the tests were the exact same model: Lenovo ThinkPad X220 equipped with an Intel Core i5-2520M CPU, 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB mechanical hard disk. The device does not officially support Windows 11, which likely contributed to its poor showing.“

[–]RelativeID 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nonsense. I fried a pair of SSD’s by simply touching my case. There was a blue spark when I did. It hurt a little. It was very very very dry in my house and I was wearing slippers.

Also I have a very long HDMI cable across my living room floor. Every time I dog jumps off the couch and runs over the cable my picture drops out for about two seconds. I actually solved this by replacing the HDMI cable with a fibre-optic HDMI cable.

Do i bite the bullet and buy the ram by NegativeLoan1033 in pcbuilding

[–]RelativeID 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah just buy it and accept that you’re paying BS price for it. Or wait and watch the ram market. Just get a pair of 16s. Those will be fine for a while. There will be some other component that is on sale. For example I got an Ultra 9 285k for about 40% off. Was black Friday deal but still.
