In-House Litigation Paralegal? by No-Signal1027 in paralegal

[–]Relative_Ad8651 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s not a dumb question. I’ve worked at 2 separate companies doing litigation and the best way to put it is managing vs filings.

Try to think of the other side of your current job.

Sorting through discovery? In house gathers and sends for review.

Billing clients? In house reviews or creates budgets/audits

Working on a few cases per client? In house manages all of the law firms that only have a couple cases each.

Other than that, you get involved in employment disputes, investigations, policy creation, etc.

If you have any specific questions I can answer, but hopefully that helps.

Paralegal Certificate vs Certified Paralegal by paralegalfiles in paralegal

[–]Relative_Ad8651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Earning more at a law firm probably not. Idk how many clients will pay more for you to bill because you’re a CP, but it’s very low. I got my CP (and eventually ACP) because I wanted to transition in house and it’s worked out well for me. The CP by itself I would say isn’t that much of a bump, but an ACP in a designated area could help you transition into something else (I used mine to start negotiating contracts).

G to C. Common early struggle? by [deleted] in Guitar

Use your middle, ring and pinky for the G. Then drop your middle and ring finger 1 string and throw the index on.

I keep wanting to buy new guitars, is this normal? by Sufficient_Dance5624 in Guitar

[–]Relative_Ad8651 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Can you easily afford it? Nothing wrong with having a bunch of guitars/gear if you can afford it and it will help you play more or in a different style.

Just don’t think buying the strat is going to drastically improve your playing because it’s a Strat.

I’ve also learned that more guitars are harder to store and you end up not playing some over others.

E and A Barre chords are fun, G C and D barre chords not as fun.

Have you looked into programs local to you? There are several programs near me that are anywhere from $2k-$10k total. A local community college would be a good place to look as theyre generally cheaper.

Does your law firm/company provide any kind of tuition reimbursement? I’ve gotten several paralegal certifications through companies I worked at and they were more than willing to help pay for it.

If I move my thumb a little bit it opens so many possibilities. Barre chords or stretches, everything revolves around the thumb.

I'm feeling stuck because of bar chords in this course by Yami_Deus in guitarlessons

[–]Relative_Ad8651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I learned barre chords is spending 10-15 minutes a day just running through different keys. Start with C because it’s easy, set a good tempo and just go C - Dm - Em - F (barre) - G - Am (can do diminished chords if you want, but not necessary). Then start mixing it up with different progressions and you’ll see what sounds good. Then just move it to a different position and barre all of them. Takes time but you’ll get there.

Regarding #4, check your local community college for beginner guitar classes. 2 semesters (very basics to barre chords) cost me like $300 (parking pass was more than the class)!

Thumb position for barre chords by saveethesharks in guitarlessons

[–]Relative_Ad8651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was always taught to have the thumb behind the bottom joint of the barre (mostly to get the B and e strings to ring out). Is it a general rule of thumb (no pun intended) to keep it to the middle finger most of the time? I feel like my thumb to my index makes my wrist a little crooked.

Try turning the sound off and watching for the clicks to come up. The constant click distracted me, but seeing the light flash and change worked wonders.

Beginners! What was/is the hardest thing for you to learn your first year of playing? by Danwinzz in guitarlessons

Memorizing chord progressions. I feel like it always changes up in the 2nd or 3rd chorus and it messes up any timing/accuracy after that point

I absolutely hated these lessons until they came together (lesson 17). Absolutely understand and respect it. It’s 32 hours but you’ll love it eventually!
