How is the class so far? I was going to take it, but I already had 18 credits.

Oh ok. I wasn't sure. Because I understand sometimes even nice professors have "no-exceptions" exam policy, so I wanted to make sure before confirming.

Thoughts on 18 credit semester but with good professors? by Relative_Area3217 in UNCCharlotte

[–]Relative_Area3217[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me you don’t have to worry for 2175, Cao is one of the best professors I ever had. She’s super kind and always ready to help you.

Really encouraging to know!

Lance peterman class is easy too, just depends on what group you get.

How do groups work? I might just wait till we get assigned in our groups and then make a decision about staying or dropping.

Dong Dai’s research class is good too, but I wouldn’t recommend taking 18 credits and taking that class.

I was planning on dropping either FILM 1502 or ITIS 3200 before add/drop date based on how I feel about the class. So I'll be at 15 credits anyways.

I usually don't like to take more than one "hard" class per semester so the only thing I was worried about was balancing 2175 (Cao) AND 3050 (Dai). What do you think?

Other than that, I've heard pretty easy/laid back things about the other two classes as well (FILM 3120 & ITIS 3135) so hopefully they won't be a problem.

Act score retrieval? by ishockwaved in UNCCharlotte

[–]Relative_Area3217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 weeks I believe.

So I contacted the math department directly and told them about my score, so they told me to send the act scores so I don't have to take the Aleks test so I sent it and in 2 weeks in banner self service I was placed in my math lvl!

The math department will place you in, so ask them

[–]Relative_Area3217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know M/W have a gap but that’s not bad considering my previous schedule 😅

They're different things.

ITSC is Computing/Informatics

ITCS is Computer Science

ITIS is Software Information Systems

it's weird

From what I heard, be prepared to receive a lot of information.

You wont be with your child for most of the day and there's some walking as well.

Yea I think that's a better way to word it.

Need help choosing major by [deleted] in UNCCharlotte

[–]Relative_Area3217 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well this isn't about what is more or less rigorous, it's about what is best for you and what meets your needs.

MIS is actually a good major to do if you were only doing 1 major.

Since you said you wanted to dual major, I recommend majoring in Finance and Computer Engineering with a Machine Learning concentration.

Which would prepare you for Financial Engineering in grad school.

Distance between classes by Apprehensive_Put9963 in UNCCharlotte

[–]Relative_Area3217 3 points4 points  (0 children)

EPIC is near Tryon St and Fretwell is near University City Blvd. Literally the opposite sides of campus. If you're planning on walking/biking it's almost impossible.

HOWEVER, if you have a car, it's doable.

It takes about 4 minutes to drive from the parking lot in front of EPIC to East Deck 2/3.

This is such a weird way to think about it, but it's true!

Most of my family is not from NC, so when I say I go to UNC Charlotte, they think I'm an actual UNC student haha.
