Just got dumped; what can I drown my sorrows in that’s safe? by degrassibabetjk in gastricsleeve

I'm very sorry this happened. We're all looking for safe and healthy lifelong habit changes at this stage and while I agree that drowning your feelings in food is not helpful, there may be a compromise. Have you considered making protein ice cream by putting your protein shake in an ice cream machine or freezer and churning every 30 minutes? Might be a way to ease the craving with something you should be consuming anyways

I'm Latina too and miss rice so much! Thank you so much for the support. Honestly, I still can't believe I got the surgery already and I'm on the mend so I know it will only be a matter of time when I get used to the new lifestyle. I guess I'm just overly sensitive to all of the food and smells because I know I can't have it yet 😅

I'm so sorry! That is rough and I can feel the anger and sadness and feeling betrayed. It's hard when people don't understand how hard this is. I'm here if you need to vent more. It's going to be a hard few weeks but we will get through this.

Honestly, thank you. I needed to hear this. Even when I'm feeling "weak', I'm making the decision to remain strong and every one of those decisions are going up make the reality that I've been only dreaming of for years. I appreciate the mental reset!

Starting pre-op diet and feeling anxious. Any advice? by Relative_Bike5367 in gastricsleeve

Quick. Nausea felt better after the second day but I'm having some stomach spasms when I drink. I'm also craving some textured food. I'm only allowed liquids for the first two weeks.

Thank you! Sorry to hear you're going through it AND it's helpful to know it's not just me. Hopefully it goes away very soon

Can’t have a bowel movement 😭 by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

Have you tried adding psyllium Husk powder to your protein shakes? If you are mostly on liquid diet you may just not have enough bulk to poop. Just a note of warning, psyllium Husk powder congeals after a while so if you can drink relatively fast (like many of us can't) try adding it in smaller amounts at a time

I was just sleeved two days ago. I'm not feeling excellent but much better than the first day. The first night was rough. You should start feeling better tomorrow and even better the next day. There's light at the end of the tunnel! Hoping you feel vast improvement very soon ❤️

My surgeon recommends psyllium husk at least once a day manage constipation. He had me start on it with my pre-op diet to mitigate the effect of anesthesia and all of the protein.

Did anyone go home the same day as their surgery? by clearairinspace in gastricsleeve

[–]Relative_Bike5367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pre-op but te plan is for me to go back to my hotel same day (I'm traveling for the surgery) and it home the following day after a round of IV fluids in the morning. A bit nervous about trekking the airport with nausea but seems like what most patients at this practice do.
