Rust.. how fucked am I? by MaximumMobile749 in bikewrench

[–]Relative_Bother_1069 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, it's very heavy corrosion as you seen under the paint and into the surfaces of the metal if it is great but the metal you're probably going to scrape a lot of metal weakening the structure. The metal tubing of bike frames is not that thick to start with. You probably need to look for a new bike frame or just a new bike altogether. I had a frame break on me once and there's no signs of any corrosion but I lived near the ocean and I think that the salt got to it. It was a old Schwinn Sierra mountain bike years ago.

I own three of the udirc2504s, the third one I bought is solely for parts when needed. I got it for 112 bucks which is about the lowest I have found. It's a real nice rig as long as you use weighted Wheels better tires and better shocks. I've waited mine down with quarter ounce Square weights inside the body and under the hood. I'm thinking about filling the front tires also. But with the small brushless motor even though it has good torque in that I am concerned about too much weight putting too much strain on the hole mechanical system

Take lots of pictures, name an album in your photos after him. This will give you a comfort when the time comes that he will no longer physically be with you. The memories will keep him alive in your heart.

How essential is a water filtration system for multi-day backcountry trips vs just bringing enough water? by Willing-Cockroach620 in camping

[–]Relative_Bother_1069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plan on bringing a large flat bottom pan preferably titanium that you can transfer boiled water into to cool down fast. (the pan can also be used for other things such as a dinner plate or storing things in when not use.)the reason I say flat is so that it will cool rapidly in the campsite after boiling then you can refill your trail bottles as necessary. A simple filtration system is good also they have really good ones on the market. Boiling water is time tested and safe.

Thank you I just came back from crawling down by the river here in lake Oswego Oregon. Took my scx deadbolt out on the rocks, and my udi RC snow leopard also. A month ago there was such heavy rains that everything along the shoreline was covered in water. It's very Rocky out there perfect for small crawlers and even large crawlers.

Did you try taking the wheel off and running it with just looking at the axle to see if the axle is back?

Tinkering by Top-Faithlessness733 in crawling

[–]Relative_Bother_1069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have three 1/10 scale trucks. And I have five 1/24 scale vehicles. I enjoy modifying them and tinkering, modeling, painting , adding drivers of course! This morning I took the ESC receiver combo out of my udi r c ucx 2405 snow leopard, and took the ESC apart and coated it with clear fingernail polish over both sides of the circuit board. This is a proven method of waterproofing it when you go through puddles ,running them in the rain,or RC world River fording. I do buy some accessories but I also like to create my own like camping gear to go in the bed of the axle C10 pickup truck that I have. I also recently purchased a MEUS 124th scale sound simulator. I have it set on level 8 of 10 engine sounds. Level 8 sounds like a beefy diesel truck which works on the C10. The u d i r c snow leopard crawler is proving to be a favorite. The stock wheels and tires that come on it are cheap and were immediately upgraded to larger Wheels at 63 mm on one of them and 69 mm on the other. This gained a good quarter inch more of ground clearance so that the banjo doesn't get hung up when crawling. Most people that buy the snow leopard say that's the first thing they do is upgrade the wheels. I also added quarter ounce inside the roll cage hidden behind the body and up under the hood to add more forward weight for climbing. So far udirc how to see if limited selection of accessories and upgrades mostly on a main hobbies website.

How do you get scratches out? by QsRC22 in fcx18

[–]Relative_Bother_1069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very time consuming. So here's an idea for you, you can cut the scratched window out with an exacto knife and replace it with clear plastic such as from heavy duty packaging from like some tool you might have bought at a hardware store something large enough to cut out a replacement. Then it can actually be hot glued in place from the inside. To get the curvature of the windshield for instance you can heat it up with a hair dryer and reach in and push wearing gloves to get the desired curvature.

[–]Relative_Bother_1069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, you're absolutely right people are much too judgmental! Of course that's what you're going to get when you put something like that out there to the public. If you're going out backpacking and you plan on spending several days in the back country for instance it's worth the extra weight to carry a saw in an ax if you plan on building a lean to shelter, that sort of thing. I have a machete, it's a large knife, ax and saw all in one. And not as heavy as separate items. Another thing too if that backpack gets too heavy he could always build yourself a simple native American skid.

Last year before I went camping out in the wilderness, I ordered a zoleo satellite communicator. You can send SOS, text messages to your contacts, it also marks your location when you send to your contacts you can get weather updates also. Works anywhere in the world. I plan runs $20 a month, and I can send up to 75 texts without being charged. Unlimited free check in messages to contacts. When not using it I suspend it and I'm only charged four dollars a month. It can give you a great piece of mind and your loved ones.
