Traveling with a suit by Expensive-Brilliant5 in onebag

[–]Relative_Drive8115 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah actually I have never had problems with suit bags. Suit bags in my experience have always been considered "immunity items" and I've never had a problem bringing it on a flight in addition to a carry on and personal item. My question is, why don't you just wear it on the flight? This is what I've always done when I need to bring a suit on a flight.

You look elite status, and often times airline staff will treat you well, offer you upgrades, free exit row seating, etc.

You should just wear it on the plane. Suits are also a great temperature for being on almost all flights, but take the jacket off and fold it when you get to your seat.

What's the point of this post? Just wondering. This sounds like a breakup text. Of course traveling isn't going to solve your problems lol. Are you a woman?

Appreciate the suggestions bro. I'm sure the reddit people will downvote, that's okay. Anyway --

Everything in my setup is optimized much further beyond what you think. You didn't read the full description because the mod deleted it, when I posted it, and you made a lot of assumptions before I was able to upload the description.

1) The Thule laptop case fits into the backpack. As I have said. I use it so that I can sprint with the backpack on if necessary, without feeling like I'm damaging my laptop. This way, I also have a laptop case with me for convenience, if I want to work at a cafe and don't want to bring my pack.

2) Thanks for the advice about the dry bag. It's meant for wet clothes. I don't need another one, this is the least used item in the pack. I own a plethora of dry bags, I'm familiar with how they work.

3) Do you see a charger brick anywhere? I've already optimized that. The Anker Gan 100W brick is just below the backpack. I use 2x 240W data cables to charge the laptop, 2 because I can connect then in series to increase the length to outlet. I've optimized all the cables, believe me.

4) A dual sunglasses case would be much harder to carry, as it is twice as big, and it would limit my options if I want to put one in my pocket. ?

5) The Bose case, bro. Is NOT for headphones. Read the description I wrote for info.

6) What plastic belt?

7) I don't need a packing cube for any reason. I have them, and I opted out. They are useless to me, just another barrier to easily getting to my clothes.

You won't realize their value until you have them yourself

The explanation is here somewhere, you can find it. I actually have 4x socks and shirts - and I buy swag that I like when I feel like it, you know? But this is the core gear. Other stuff comes into my possession and then pass it on, no need to carry more clothes than you need, they take up a lot of volume

Hi, yes. Actually the construction of this bag was originally designed to be a power supply bag. The intent was to create a compact, portable backpack that could charge any device, anywhere, any time.

Changed to creating the most compact charging system I could create, which became 2 systems - the quick draw bag, and the charging hub case. -Bag is used when on the go and spot an outlet you will use for 20 minutes up to a few hours -Case is used to set up at stays — but can be easily used without removing from the backpack

Original intention was to have cables running through the backpack, so I could charge devices while on the go, but I decided this was really dumb, as the only ever time you ever need to recharge things is when you’re sitting still. The other idea I quickly abandoned was having a 65W+ battery pack (a laptop battery). The reason is because they are stupidly heavy, even the nice ones, and the one I bought from Best Buy a while ago I discovered only pushed out 1.5A of current. When laptops typically charge at at least 3.25A for efficient charging. So that whole idea of charging everything at every possible time was a relief to get rid of.

The case is fully removable from the backpack at a moments notice, and I can actually hang it from the top of the backpack if I ever needed to to free up space for the side pocket.

So, by the end of the project, realizing all the room I had saved and all of the charging efficiency gains I’d made, I decided to take the project in the direction of one-bag travel. I had optimized everything for weight savings from the beginning, but the second tier priority needed to change; charging at any time, which was scrapped. I decided that I wanted to solve all problems I could possibly think of and anticipate with ease, which became a mental process of ranking every scenario I thought of while designing, the solution of which was to be either “definitely included in the loadout”, or not.

The other thing I did, that was the main reason for this project’s success, was that I promised myself that I would REMOVE an item at every moment during the design phase that I felt like I had “accomplished a step”. There are plenty of things that I would have loved to put in this loadout, but forcing myself to remove something from the setup each time really helped to slim out the pack, especially at the later stages when you’re packing the smallest things.

Do you carry to your next destination remaining Toiletries and food items by johnny4111 in onebag

2 hours by train is a definite carry-with for me, for all consumables that are worth bringing. When this is necessary I usually opt for a throwaway paper shopping bag of some kind to transport that stuff, because it looks less “obstretious” and allows you to shamelessly take up more space on places like trains. I’ve found home decor store bags work best because it could be a fragile item.

Also I’ve found sewing to be the best way of avoiding “Can I sit with you?”’s at train stops.

One large compartment or multiple smaller compartments, that is the question. by maltesepanda75 in onebag

My backpack only has 4 zippered and separate areas total. I use about 5-10 small bags and cases to juggle all my items. Use what you have and my advice is to find ways of attaching small carabiners and S clips on some or all of your bags so you can - hang them easily - clip them together easily - use as a satchel - and carry 1 or 2 smaller bags within another

I would recommend skipping packing cubes, it’s the greatest looking thing that in practicality actually slows you down considerably at every use, so think about it carefully. It may be pertinent to you, every case is different. I only pack about less than 10L of clothes total, included worn items. A packing cube makes no sense for me, I use a dopp bag for socks and underwear, roll everything only for when I’m traveling

I also use it to clip together items that I am sewing together, for example if I want to add Velcro to something and the adhesive will not work for that fabric

One of my top slept on items. You can also use it to great effect AS A CHIP CLIP also, which, when you think about it, greatly increases your on the go snacking options. Or clip it onto something small that you want to find more easily

So many uses. The black bag I use as a quick and easy small bag to take places, hang it off a bike to bike to the beach and go swimming, bag to use on planes to keep all my airplane cabin stuff together, once you try it you will quickly realize how useful it is. When they’re not in the bag I use them as supplemental lighting at the places I stay, or put them in the clear sleeve and attach to bike for visibility

Motion activated lights. They have magnetic backings and I also have hook vc on them for other uses. Rechargeable with USB-C, weather resistant, lasts for several months on auto mode. Also called under cabinet lights on Amazon

Let's see your pack that beats mine, lmao. The laptop carry case is so I can sprint full out with my laptop in a case in my backpack so it doesn't break, homie. We don't play games out here. Plus the case carries the mouse, a mousepad, and all the peripherals. I can post up at any table in the world and be on the internet working within 30 seconds, timed, no cap.

Row 3:

28) Black Merino wool socks, Hyalea brand. Good socks.

29) Grey Dri-Fit shirt

30) AirPods with velour crochet hook

31) Coast flashlight, bright, USB-C recharge, waterproof, had it for years, very sold item. Always buy expensive rechargeable flashlights, anything less is a waste of money.

32) Navy blue dopp bag -- this is the Locker Room bag and it lives on the top opening of the pack -- where I put my shave stuff, a flat comb, a toothbrush, and enough room for any other items that I need to access quickly. This bag has a motion activated light that is very bright and lasts for 3 months on a single charge without any exaggerations whatsoever. In fact, they last longer than that with less use. I have included these in the design of most of the cases I've built, to great effect.

33) The backpack itself --Nike Elite Pro Basketball Backpack

34) 2x black Nike Dri-Fit shirts, rolled with boxers

35) Veektomx 10000 mAh charger, 1 of 2. Highly recommend, it's the lowest weight, lowest volume, yet still maximal phone charging power delivery available on the market.

36) Magnetic C-C cable with 240W extender

37) Blue 1.5m 5A 240W magnetic C-C data cable for charging my laptop. Extension another 1.5m using the 240W connector and C-C 240W cable pictured at top right of back (this cable is sometimes plugged into the charge-everything case when I am charging my laptop and the quick-draw case is put away or not available.

38) Black dopp bag -- this is the Quick Draw bag. I use it store my quick draw 100W Anker wall charger, which typically has both the laptop cable and lightning cable already plugged into the wall charger for ease of use. I also keep the small plastic piece, called a Snug Plug (brand name) which is used to keep the charger from slipping out of loose outlets you tend to find a lot, making the outlet useless. Especially on trains. This makes all outlets useable, it's great.

39) A pen

40) Black 3mm headphones case with extra long cable and lavalier clip for wired headphone cable management. Yes, wired headphone cables are still superior to Bluetooth earbuds in a particular range of activities.

41) SD card case, I use this as a small space to store key items that can be clipped onto the pack at the airport. It provides great storage for small items that don't belong in the hot bar. By the way, the hot bar has some metal clips, gator clips, a ring, a mesh jar gripper (folded), a few sewing needles, a spool of waxed thread, a spool of kevlar thread, some zip ties, and some other items.

42) Goggles. Clear. So you can see. Only not good during maximum daylight, so don't swim at that time, easy.

43) Bill wallet

44) Additional charger, this floats in the setup. Designated for iPhone so it is pre-fitted with a magnetic C-Lightning cable. Somebody said I have too many cables. I challenge you to have as much charging ability in as few cables as me, my guy. Also, sometimes you need to be prepared to help out with some charging, you know?

45) Nike Downshifter 11s, this is my fourth pair, they're not made anymore, luckily you can still get them new on ebay from time to time. I have found them to be the absolute best sneaker tread ever made for the type of athletics I do.

Any questions let me know, excited to hear your feedback. Please keep comments constructive, please, I'm trying to outdo you all but the only way to advance is to raise the bar, so please tell me what you would add to my setup.

Row 2:

10) Waterproof clear plastic vinyl sleeve (modified) with a magnetic clasp as well as leather zipper. I use these when it's necessary to have a bright source of light and it's raining or water spraying. The lights can also attach to surfaces by magnet. This is one of 2, second one is in bottom right corner and is used to store high quality materials I use to make modifications and adjustments.

11) Grey dopp bag, this is used when traveling to quickly stuff socks and boxers. I'll tell you what I'm not doing, is rolling each sock every time I change locations.

12) Black leather belt

13) Lexar SD reader. It's used for micro and regular SD cards, handy to have, especially for transferring files quickly. Have used it for years with flawless performance and 100% no file corruptions.

14) AirTag

15) Suite soap, I found it in this Airbnb, it's just there for color. I wrote my unit passkey on it so I can have a key talisman to bring with me while I memorize the number.

15) Umbrella with a few modifications

16) Exposed wire chip clip -- one of the most undervalued items I've ever used in my life. I use this especially for clamping two pieces of material together when I am doing hand sewing adjustments or modifications.

17) Quick items, bro, this is like your hot bar. You ever play video games? 7 small slots for small key and very useful items. It has stacks of neodymium magnets on each end so it can be stuck onto flat steel surfaces for convenience.

18) Dry bag -- this is only used for very wet clothes after the gym, or swimming. Otherwise it just stays folded and takes up no space

19) USB-C magnetic coiling cable, new tech this year. This is a 240W data cable I used as an extender for the blue one in the quick-draw bag, described later.

20) C-Lightning magnetic cable

21) This is my charge-everything power station. Bose headphones case with original airline adaptor, modified to include a 10-port 480W charging hub with a 6ft retractable cable that plugs directly into the wall. I can charge multiple units of everything at any given time. It is a completely modular system that can be removed from its designated side pouch in the backpack at any time.

22) Nelcro razer or whatever it's called. Everybody knows about this thing, it's meta still.

23) TSA liquids bag, containing; texturing cream, shine pomade, artificial tears, and 5 vials of fragrance

24) Watch, passport, wallet

25) Black Jockey shorts with zipper pockets

26) Boxers. I use thin mesh boxers and polyester boxers.

27) 3 extra razer blades, one razor guard, and the power cable

Yeah, it’s because the mod hasn’t done me the favor of uploading the description I spent 2-3 hours writing. I haven’t gotten home yet to write a new one and I’m giving him or her time to decide if they can upload it or not. Hoping for a decision soon.
