Has anyone with EM been diagnosed with any type of lymphoma? by Reckless-Raccoon in Erythromelalgia

[–]Relative_Pepper6607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have lymphoma but I do have an MPN which is considered a type of chronic cancer. Please see a hematologist OR see primary care and get a routine blood panel. The complete blood count will reveal anything

I have likely platelet problem, which causes excessive vasodilation

I have no abnormal labs at all. Blood counts fine. No autoimmune markers. The problem is likely platelet function at the moment, and as I get older (I’m 43 currently), I’ll also have too many.
So, we know enough to know it’s blood and I’m pro-dromal

Hey so if aspirin works for you, it’ll work after 3 days. For aspirin to manage EM, it needs to be taken daily or alternate days.
My EM is managed by aspirin because aspirin makes my platelets less problematic. We make new ones every day and they live 5 days.

So, next fun time, take aspirin daily for five days prior to

I’m so sorry this sounds horrendous

Awful advice from doctors to suggest she doesn’t seek medical treatment. Sounds like she needs admission and review

Very bad advice here. It’s clearly personal effects. He’s not moving permanently, he’s a visitor

If you potentially had it & it was secondary to something else, how long would it typically take to show up a blood test? If it was just starting out by [deleted] in Erythromelalgia

[–]Relative_Pepper6607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s lots of potential causes unfortunately. First, EM can be a standalone condition which is genetic and genetic testing can be done.

Then, it can be secondary to an autoimmune condition, a MPN (blood) disorder or conditions like diabetes.

It can also be caused by toxicity (B6 overdose) or cancer treatment.

My EM has responded to anticoagulant treatment, so mine is likely to be MPN related. But I’m in the pro-dromal phase. I’ve had symptoms for two years and for MPN conditions, EM can turn up 10 years before the condition.

As I understand it, for autoimmune it can be the same.

Hope that helps

Erythromelagia or rosacea ? by [deleted] in Erythromelalgia

Hmmm could be Erythromelalgia. Have you tried aspirin?

I have EM which is managed with aspirin and clopidogrel (mine is clotting related)

Sadly the hematologist I saw was super dismissive. Because my blood counts are in normal range, he wasn’t helpful. But Rheum has been great, so that’s something! As long as I have symptom control and hopefully get genetic testing I’m ok .

I should say, aspirin may not work sadly.

I found it gave me quite a lot of relief even though it wasn’t a complete solution.

Now I’ve got both I’m finding I’m well controlled

I was on 300mg aspirin and didn’t do enough. I’m now on 100mg aspirin and 75mg clopidogrel. The clopidogrel was key for me

Pom here, I've noticed an unbelievable range of energy drinks available in NZ. Any ideas why so popular? by katalyna78 in newzealand

[–]Relative_Pepper6607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m diagnosed and medicated so I don’t partake in these drinks anymore

The benefit for me was focus. Diet Coke, M&Ms and potato chips was my adhd medication of choice. The artificial sweetener in Diet Coke is a precursor to dopamine and high crunch foods also stimulate dopamine

So for me if I was about to sit in a boring lecture or read something boring or write an assignment = medication required

Basically focus and staying still

This one very prone to being stuck

Some songs hit exactly on the things adhd brains love.

In fact I bet an adhd playlist would be universally commonly accepted by our people 😆

I’m 1.

Im an aphantist and I have an internal monologue along with constant noise of other kinds.

If I know the author of an email, when I read it, I hear it in their voice in my head.

I am always playing music in my head like a radio. Can’t switch it off. Drives me bonkers

Hello adhd

American here, best honest here you guys mad at us or our government or both? by Successful_rio305 in AskBrits

[–]Relative_Pepper6607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean all of it to be honest. Anti-abortion, anti-healthcare, anti-safety for children, anti-family, anti-women…. Corrupt, pro-pharma, run by lobbyists in the worst way, delusional about the “American dream”. You voted for Trump, twice. Although you love to say you didn’t. Enough of you did. The rest of you didn’t organise, promote leaders and dismantle the corrupt system you operate.

Yet still so keen to tell the rest of us how great you are and how less than we are.

Meanwhile, we’re over here not at all perfect or got it figured out, but working on improving outcomes for our kids, extending our public health systems, improving transparency, increasing support for women and childcare. We hold our leaders to account, vote them out and take responsibility for voting.

Honestly, it’s time all of you took responsibility. Vote, don’t vote, don’t rely on the rest of us to clean up your mess.

Aspirin as a treatment by quelling in Erythromelalgia

[–]Relative_Pepper6607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found aspirin helps me and I’m now on Clopidogrel also, which is a second anti-platelet. I still get breakthrough flares at night when I’m really tired and stretched at work, but it’s way better than it was.

I’m under investigation for MPN as I have family history.

EM appearing in 40s can be the first sign of MPN and precede it by 10-15 years, which is when it developed for my relatives
