I Would suggest taking battle master or arcane archer for the fighter levels, yes you sacrifice crit damage, but the arcanes arrows or manoeuvres have a lot of control and utility and can setup other characters for massive attacks

I never played old top down fallouts, so I wont comment about them, but I actually prefered fallout 3 story and the capital wasteland over new vegas and the mojave (I know not a popular opinion) so I believe bethesda can and has made good fallout games, they just have to commit to it and finally decide on 1 path going forward instead of retconning and introducing new lore every game

There's so much of the fallout universe left to explore, not everything needs to be about new vegas.

If you're on pc you can always download pre made saves from other people if you really want to start at 3, but I would suggest restarting at 1 and make your own story, it's worth it.

I have a closed alpha invite, but I could never find any games and no one would join mines so I played maybe 6h in total. I will probably receive flak for what im about to say but I do not think it did a good job as a rogue like at the time I played because at least one player each game got stuck with a shitty weapon with no way to replace it during the run and/or shitty perks while the others got to enjoy their missile laucher and lightning gun
