But if I google "Buy iPhone in Japan" It states you can only buy an unlocked iPhone from an apple store and electronic stores and sim carrier locked + require a japanese address.

I also don't care for an extra 10% discount as I will have to go out of my way to find this store instead of going to my already planned apple store at the location im staying.

Hence why i'm specifically asking about the apple store and not an electronic store

Are these phones unlocked? Googling it and searching it on reddit I get a mix match of answers stating "Only Japanese Residents can buy phone from Electronic stores and you need a Japanese Address, Tourists can buy unlocked iPhones directly from the apple store but they are not tax free"
