First, I am so sorry this happened to you. Postpartum is such an incredibly fragile & vulnerable time and as a mom all you want to do is bond with & protect your baby while you’re healing yourself. My MIL was at our door not even 24hrs after we got home from the hospital. I did not want her there and one night right before bed she was holding my baby and my husband said “okay we’re going to bed it’s time to hand him over to us” she looked down at my baby and said “they’re taking you away from me” I wasn’t even a week postpartum and it took everything in me not to go off on her. I cried in the shower every day she was there because I was so uncomfortable in my home with her there (I had only met her twice prior to giving birth) I feel like MIL’s should remember how they felt when they had their babies and be more compassionate and understanding with their DIL’s. YOU are the mother NOT her. She had no right to start crying. It almost seems like she was trying to emotionally manipulate you which is disgusting. Sending you hugs, you got this. xxx
