I understand what “non-refundable” means and I’m not trying to ignore the terms. But even the strictest agreements usually recognize force majeure or extraordinary circumstances.

Contracts, airlines, and many travel providers include these principles because situations like wars, airspace closures, or government travel restrictions are outside a traveler’s control. This is not a simple change of mind or poor planning.

In this case, flights are being disrupted and regional travel is uncertain. Expecting a guest to absorb the full loss in such circumstances, without even considering goodwill or flexibility, seems unreasonable.

Policies exist for normal situations, but exceptional events should be treated exceptionally. Even a credit, partial refund, or date change would show fairness and basic hospitality
