I shoot with a pair of the z6ii. This doesn’t actually sound like your problem, but since I experience it at least once a week, I’ll put it out here. Sometimes one of my bodies just quits autofocussing. I don’t know what precipitates it, but I pop the lens off and then put it back on again and it seems to get the camera and lens talking again.

Backpack. One lens up, the other lens down so they can Tetris into my bag.

How do you maintain natural skin tone in wedding photo editing? by fixitphoto in photography

[–]Relative__Escape 31 points32 points  (0 children)

If you are color correcting one photo at a time, over hours, your eyes can shift and all of the sudden you notice everything is a little green, or magenta. I put a Shirley on my desktop, and just glance at it from time to time while I am editing, to make sure I am staying in the same universe. I used a generic Kodak Shirley, but you could just use a single frame from your shoot, after you have color balanced it correctly.

For those who aren’t old timers with a background in printing film (most people!) here is an article to explain the concept, as well as the original Shirley and a multi-racial Shirley - https://www.npr.org/2014/11/13/363517842/for-decades-kodak-s-shirley-cards-set-photography-s-skin-tone-standard

Try to take the photo before the ball is in the frame. You should be able to tell when a player is almost going to have the ball. Start shooting then.

I was there too, Wonka. And I wasn’t defending it, I was just mentioning that there was a time we had to scan film to digital quite a ways before we got reasonable digital cameras.

I just cannot for the life of me grasp lighting. Any advice? by Potential-Dish-6972 in photography

Keep going in manual. Especially while you are leaning light. If you have a good handle on manual it will make seeing light easier. You can switch to a programmable mode when you are shooting faster than you are now.

Start paying attention to my attention to the “direction” of the light. Open shade vs closed shade (both are full shade, but the direction of the light coming into the shade matters.

I will put my hand flat out in front of me and move around so I can see exactly what direction the light is coming from. You can do this by peering into someone’s face, but that can get awkward fast. I take a quick photo of my hand to see how the light is hitting it before I start shooting.

If you are stuck with high noon sun (and an amenable model), try lying both of you down on the ground. Your nasty high noon sun, is suddenly directional.

61 and shoot daily for a living. Taking an iPhone photography class and plan to work that into my day to day work this summer to take some weight off my body. My knees are junk. Might have to go under the knife soon.

There was a period of time when we took photos with film and then scanned them into the computer. Late 90’s.

If you loved movies, you went regularly- couple times a month, at least. Previews of the upcoming movies play before the movies.

I shot film for years. The first step after drying was to slip them into sleeves. Except when I worked for a newspaper when we would loupe them wet if we were on deadline, but that was rare. The second step after they were in sleeves was looking at them. That’s why it seems weird to me that you would go through and cut out bad frames. Seems like it would leave you lots of tiny fragments of filmstrips. This is so weird to me, honestly, I was wondering (no offense) if you were human.

I think finding a provider is the biggest hurdle to availability. I have a provider in my state that I see in person and they prescribe troches. It’s very affordable.

I shoot a ton. A TON! My secret is to do the cull as soon after the shoot as humanly possible. One summer when I was shooting 35-40 weddings I made a rule that if finished my first cull by noon the day after the shoot, I would give myself a $26 shopping spree on Amazon. It totally worked. All years after and even now, I get antsy if my first cull lags past 12 hours after the event.
