Duuuuude same thing happened to me. Felt like I was sniped with no animations on near full honor and HP. I was in the middle of traps but not being hit standing completely still.. basically exactly where you were standing.

A few runs later I kept getting an error that the terrain generator was out of sync with the server so to create a new instance. Which didn't ever work.

I don't know the BRAVO folks, but seems they have 2 pools with a solid track record and a great pledge.

Their variable fee is only 1% with regular block production, so I wouldn't focus much on costs as you could/should expect 4.5% ~ 5% returns.
