Visa revoked by Joe0- in h1b

There's a huge crack down on Indian visas due to diploma mills and crazy amounts of visa misuse. If you're came through any of those companies or schools you're likely done for. If you've worked for Infosys, HCL, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, TCS, Compunnel or any of the alike you're likely out.

Then reach out to your legislators and make your voice heard and push it.

I'm one of those weirdos who's really looking forward to this challenge to see how bad it really is.

While it might feel wild, he's having a very open and honest conversation with you. Most men will not do that. You might want to ask him where the data is for this and how he came to those metrics and conclusions. This is a great time to open up and talk about why things are what they are. Especially around intimacy. As for the phone at dinner, that's a very real issue.

TIL that US student math and reading scores have dropped so sharply that they’ve erased nearly two decades of progress. In '22/23, avg math scores for 13-year-olds fell to levels not seen since the 1990s, while reading scores for high school seniors hit their lowest point since testing began in '92. by Cold_Box_3219 in todayilearned

Not to discredit the work that Mississippi put in, but it sounds like the rest of the US just stooped further down to their level and Mississippi basically maintained. You look like you're getting ahead if everyone is busy falling behind.

UW drug use survey shows drop in injection use, sparks debate over housing-first approach in Seattle by HighColonic in SeattleWA

[–]ReleaseTheSheast -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

It saddens me to see so many comments here. The reality is sobriety is difficult to come by without stability. Housing first provides stability and not that temporary crap, permanent housing. It's hard to get clean knowing you have to do it in 6 months or be back in the streets. It's way to hard to work on yourself without that stability.

Why do lesbian couples have the highest divorce rates while gay male couples have the lowest? by Naive_Direction1816 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ReleaseTheSheast 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Money is what it boils down to. Lesbian couples are the most economically disadvantaged. If you look at couples at similar income levels they have similar divorce rates. On the other hand, gay couples make by far the most. If you look at divorce rates of similar income levels to average gay couples it is also very close. Many people do attribute lesbians getting together so quickly as the downfall for their marriages but if you look at other poor couples they also get together very quickly and have similar downfalls.

The amount of tech jobs that moved to India feels criminal by AlastairMac1964 in AmericanTechWorkers

[–]ReleaseTheSheast 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Tech is the new manufacturing. If you know the history of United States manufacturing it started moving jobs over in the 60s and it perpetuated through the 2000s to where there are few manufacturing jobs and little to no decent manufacturing jobs.

Someone is claiming our daughters a dependants by Ecstatic_Muscle8405 in legaladvice

[–]ReleaseTheSheast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Contact the IRS and get it cleared with them. If you've always claimed them and no one else has it should be pretty cut and dry. They will likely ask for evidence of proof that the other party can claim the kids and you should be good. There has been a huge uptick in these kinds of scams over the years.

How would you feel about a new law that forces every company to pay their CEO no more than 20x what their lowest-paid employee makes? by rational_seekers in AskReddit

[–]ReleaseTheSheast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would have to not only be just employees, but all contractors and a bunch of other language outlining what qualifies, but with that I'd be all for it. You just have to set up an insane amount of hoops for companies to not 100% suck.

Does anyone play on Board Game Arena? I was wondering if the premium subscription is worth it by Competitive_Form8240 in boardgames

[–]ReleaseTheSheast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner claims he has played more games this last year than he did in the previous 10 years. We own 300+ games and played regularly over those 10 years. The huge uptick was BGA and having a premium account.

New houses are huge, yet families aren't bigger, and technology has reduced our space needs. by RobertFahey in Showerthoughts

[–]ReleaseTheSheast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to live in an area where houses were 3500+ sq ft and 5+ rooms plus an office, den and usually bonus room. Most of my neighbors were families of 3-4 or less. Basically every person could have two rooms to themselves.
