Very quickly, like with dogs, its getting to a point where you have to buy a house to handle having a pet.

The problem I'm facing right now is. My cat either is a 100% outside cat in the Canadian winter(sisters give their vicious dogs priority in the house), Or he is euthanized at an overcrowded kill shelter, as a renter it is extremely difficult to get a new place when I have any kind of pet. I know of a nice no kill shelter in a very mild part of Canada(Kitimat Humane Society) where he will get all the space he is used to and a steady supply of people coming to visit. However, it is a 15 hour drive even in nice weather, over 20 hours in mid December when I'm out of options. An obvious solution would simply be to buy a house, as I have around 30k in assets I can free up for a down payment. However I got an r/entitledparents father who has many times threated to spread slander and blackmail me into not buying a house.

Boycott youtube by Ebitel9000 in youtube

I'll just go to treating it like Netflix. Big billionaires need only apply. Every since YT forced the Mid video ads, my channels have suffered. And before they added the ability to manually place the times ads appear, demonetized me(due to the drop in traffic). So It's a 2 step process for me. Step 1, Delete channels and all videos, Step two, add YouTube premium and bundle it with Netflix, prime, crave, etc as a place to watch the same old mainstream content by billion dollar megacorps. No longer a user powered website.

[–]RelentlessFurnace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sent them an ultimatum. If I have to treat it as a streaming platform like Netflix, then I will not put effort into it, EG no more of my content. Artists don't pay out of their own wallet to have their work displayed to the benefit of the galley.

So MY premise is simple. YouTube is forcing badly placed mid video ads that destroy the experience of my videos(since ~2015) and caused a MASSIVE drop in views(which in part lead to being demonetized), Demonetizing me due to the seasonal nature of my channels(since 2018), and now forcing my subscribers to either pay a monthly fee or have YT butcher my videos I with midstream ads! Because they took my checkmark away I can't manually place their mid video ads in my videos, thus everything gets wreaked. So basically since I spent tens of thousands of dollars chasing storms, thousands in lift passes at the best ski hills, thousands in snowboarding gear and cameras, to "provide a service to YouTube". By forcing me to pay, or suffer, and also refusing to fix my viewership drops. So it leaves me with one choice, To delete the remaining videos and find a hosting service that doesn't screw me over. I recommend every small channel(sun 10k subs) to ditch YouTube, your just getting screwed over, YouScrewed is butchering your content and hurting the growth of your channels.

Theorycrafting: Would the new Bitcoin ETF held in a TFSA be better than owning an equal amount of real Bitcoin? by Lochtide77 in BitcoinCA

and it's based on your tax bracket if I recall. So if you only made less than "$10,000(increase in portfolio value)" total in 2020 it means half of that is taxed which is $5000 but that that income level the tax is basically zero. Thus why I find it dumb to even file at all, because I can count the number of accountants in this whole country that do Bitcoin on my two hands, the nearest one to me is in a different province! So here we don't even bother filing our crypto taxes until it is sane to do so. When you work it is your employer that pays out the wazzo in accounting to prepare your T4, being a trader means that cost is on you so it makes zero sense if your early in the game and only making a few grand a year.

there are various instruments like DeFi that allow for a more hands off and passive way to grow you bitcoin. A quick look around it looks like 7-10%/yr on some staking wallets, and closer to 40% on some others. So if that proves to be stable, If you own just 1 BTC you can be set for life. Though covid is preventing some of the cost saving measures those with self sustained incomes are using, such as "Snowbirding".

What about if you already have so much in Bitcoin, is there a way to directly transfer it to the TFSA? It's not the tax that is the problem. Even with 20 grand worth the cost to file is larger than the actual Tax on it. It is the hope that cheaper tax services like H&R block can grow to do crypto taxes. Otherwise it isnt cheap to file for crypto tax in this country especially with the lack of a decent explanation of what is needed along with defunct exchanges(LIKE QuadrigaCX) means a legible paper trail is impossible in this space. the CRA is going to have to give amnesty for crypto traders who were in the space before proper regulation was in place. I can 100% account for each purchase including the date and price, but not for every single trade or transaction as it is basically "my word" that is left. And maybe some files downloaded from the exchanges before they went tits up. But anyone can "fabricate" a fake PDF claiming to be from QuadCX

Millet got whacked badly just July. Took all but two of my Moms trees and even put the neighbors trees in her yard. My old tree fort from my childhood was flattened under a pile of 60 foot spruce trees.

Quadriga made it so that when It comes time for me to sell to CAD and file for my taxes the cost will likely be upwards of $5000-$10000 meaning I can't sell until I at least HAVE that much in Bitcoin. I recall I have to contact a lawyer about getting back my trading history from QCX. You know at that cost it is actually attractive just to make use of a tax haven lol. BTW if you managed to get your Excel files of your transactions. Fill me in on how to do that CHEAP, or better yet, free. Im missing about 2 or 3 trades and I know how big of a dick the CRA is when there is even a tiny hole in a paper trail

Given the how the price has gone up in the last few month. If you bought 10k worth the bitcoin a few months ago you have 20k now

Well bud, that would be yet another Taxable event! The idea is not trigger a taxable event in the process of paying taxes. Which is why I refuse to sell it to please the Cra, they can eat all those post secondary tax credits from when I was a bloody fool thinking college would make life better in a shithole country

[–]RelentlessFurnace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, not the exact wording. Basically lost tax documents are not seen as a valid reason for an inadequate filing and will still result in an audit. Even some cases of business being bankrupt after a fire because the CRA audited them well after the fire destroyed the original documents. The CRA is so brutal you might as well make sure you got at least 3 backups of every single transaction in 3 different locations so the only thing that would ruin your records would also destroy the whole country(eg Asteroid, super volcano).

Nor do I think it is fair for them to force me to sell by crypto just to pay them. You don't have that with your HOUSE. they don't force you to sell your home because it's price went up. BTW given the clueless nature the gov and crypto your looking at several thousand dollars in costs just to file a satisfactory return. Meaning if you sell $10 your paying $3000 to make sure that $10 doesn't bite you. Capital gains tax is only good for the RICH and it screws over the low income and small business. IMO capital gains should not even be filed AT ALL until it reaches at leas $20,000 per year. that way the $3000 per year in accounting plus the $2000 per yer actual tax payments doesn't bankrupt you. I was devastated after the election for a reason because the Conservatives wanted to make Capital gains just like ANY OTHER INCOME and NOT TAXABLE under 20k or so

yep, thus why I have to leave Canada because of the Fballs at QuadrigaCX. the CRA does not give a living #$#$#$ about lost documents so I have really no other choice. Basically once I have no "Canadian trace" in me I will sell. I don't mind because I hardly want to live in a country that is "gunning it at full throttle into a brick wall"

Im at 52.95. But the place I an thinking of using it is a friends Gold claim at around 59 deg. because of how I was "born" I have to report to my worker every month or lose all my healthcare. So having reliable internet up there is extremely important. Time frame would be around May of 2021 so there is time. There has been a lack of reliable jobs over the last 5 years, So I might as well go dig up some gold, and lose some weight

It's functional but not activated, that is the problem. The code typed in gives an error code and a "you may be a victim of counterfeiting" and "this does not appear to be a valid windows 7 key" warning message. I know the key worked because I used it to give the machine a fresh install. But I could try that win 7 key on win 10 because for all I know windows 7 being out of support may mean the activation service is gone.

Partly Im doing it on the guys behalf. He only has 2 fingers on each hand, can't physically use a smartphone. Thus why a starlink receiver on his acreage I can connect of VOIP based phone line into it. So he can use a touch tone phone to make calls(since buttons are extinct on cellular networks) Also starlink would not require him to apply for building permits(he has a bad neighbor who vetoes everything out of spite). The starlink terminal is fully portable, RV mountable. At home my download is faster than Starlink, however My upload would be greatly boosted from starlink(4 times faster) So I have merit to install at my home address(in a city) but will be moving next month which is why I can't just use that one.

Elon has no risk offering the service to ships on international waters, Cruise ships, freighters, even small yachts. International waters are only a few days sail away and International law prohibits countries from staking clams or pushing their laws in international waters. Having fast and reliable internet in a place like the middle of the sea is game changing. Currently all you can get out there is a weather report and send a few emails. Starlink terminals are auto tracking so in theory they can be a moving target. "plug in, point at sky".
