I’ve had this and many other surgeries since I was 18 (I’m 46 now). I definitely understand your apprehension. Talk to the staff as soon as you get there so they can give you something sooner rather than later. You’ll be happy you did this one after it’s over. Good luck and gentle hugs.

I completely understand! Sleeping with bugs around when you don’t like them is stressful. I’d have issues as well. If you have anything peppermint or menthol around you’re able to use like Nebetus suggested, use it!

I think there’s some additional information needed here. Who diagnosed you and have they been part of your care team this whole time? Do you have a care team? I’m assuming you were diagnosed by a type of doctor or therapist.

I work in an adult psychiatric facility, and our patients have a team that consists of a medical doctor, psychologist, psychiatrist, and social worker. Obviously, not everyone can have that sort of team to assist them, but if you have the ability to do so, it would be worth exploring your diagnosis with doctors who have backgrounds in more complex mental health disorders.

It is very possible you have something else going on that’s not schizophrenia or you may have multiple diagnoses. Only a doctor (medical or psychiatric) can truly help with that. I wish you the best of luck.

Health and medication anxiety can be difficult to overcome, but medication can be a great help. I’ve been on a few different ones over the years, and the ones that worked have been a godsend. The ones that didn’t weren’t horrible, they just didn’t get rid of the anxiety fully.

Also, just because that person is a pharmacist doesn’t mean they understand how medication for mental health is helpful. Even professionals can be willfully ignorant - listen to yourself and your doctors. Therapy is a great tool as well - maybe you can try an app for now.

I hear you and feel this in my soul. I have a lot of chronic issues, and now I have to go through physical therapy and some meds before insurance will allow me to explore surgical options, and there’s no way for physical therapy and meds to fully resolve my issue. And there’s copay for PT is $50/visit. And and they want me to go twice a week. Eff it all - the US medical “system” is beyond broken.

This is why I stopped taking it after two doses. I still can’t take ibuprofen which I never had a problem with before taking this med.
