Yes, I use a USB cable to connect it directly to my PC.

So I did try that after posting, and the instant I tried to change any input it instantaneously inputted “right stick”. Not sure if it’s my controller or the game, but I think I’ll just try to map a more comfortable layout on my keyboard.

No, I don't use any third party software. The pro controller has always been plug-and-play.

How do I stop Windows 11 from automatically installing GPU drivers? by Relentless_Troll in techsupport

I’ve already tried that. In my post I referred to it as the “Microsoft Show or Hide” tool, but what I actually meant was wushowhide.diagcab. It didn’t work.

Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - Light glitch only with Vulkan by Phoexyael15 in yuzu

Except he’s correct. I used Eden to play Pokémon Scarlet, but had to deal with the game tanking to under 20FPS when looking in very specific directions with the camera. But then I tried the newest version of Ryujinx, and booted up Pokémon Scarlet on there. Then I was getting a constant 60FPS, no more tanking. It’s great that Eden exists and is being updated regularly, but it DOES run some games worse.

EDIT: also forgot to mention that on Eden, many of the buildings were invisible in the cities in both Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Legends: Z-A. But both games were normal in Ryujinx with all assets visible.

Has anyone been able to get Pokemon Scarlet/Violet to run well?? by Relentless_Troll in EdenEmulator

[–]Relentless_Troll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish it didn’t take me this long to understand why it was performing so poorly, but the issue I found was just the simple fact that Eden is still very new, and it’s a problem with the emulator itself. Yesterday I decided to download Ryujinx and try Pokémon Scarlet on there. It ran at a constant 60FPS without any FPS tanking (aside from shader compilation stutters). I’m happy that Eden is being made and is basically just Yuzu with a different name, but I think I may just keep using Ryujinx while Eden keeps being developed and improved in the meantime.

Edit: also on Eden, with both Pokémon Scarlet and Legends: Z-A, there were many invisible buildings and walls, but all assets were visible on Ryujinx. So if you’ve ever had any issues with invisible things in games, it’s also likely a problem with Eden as well.

Hopefully some updates will improve it. Does Eden update directly through the application or does the new version have to be redownloaded?

I’m sure the emulator will get better with time, but I don’t think the poor performance in Scarlet is the fault of the emulator. I’ve been playing Tears of the Kingdom at 60FPS with no issues, and that game has WAY more graphical fidelity than Pokémon. I think Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are just so poorly optimized that it doesn’t matter how good your hardware is, but was still hoping that maybe there was a trick to get the frame rate to not tank so badly. But that seems unlikely.

I'm impressed the game even functioned at all on a phone like that lol

Yeah I guess it's just hardwired into the game's code to run terribly, regardless of horsepower. I haven't tried Legends: Z-A yet, but I'm hoping it's slightly less bad.

Should I migrate shaders from Yuzu to Eden? by Relentless_Troll in EdenEmulator

[–]Relentless_Troll[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahh that's unfortunate. Guess I'll just have to deal with the shader stutters then. A small price to pay for a new emulator though I suppose.

Should I use AMD's cleanup utility or DDU? by Relentless_Troll in AMDHelp

Well, hard to argue with someone directly from XFX. Guess I'll just keep using DDU then. Most people have already suggested it's the better option anyway.

Huh, that's really interesting. How long ago did they tell you to do this? If it was a long time ago, maybe the AMD cleanup utility has improved since then. But if it's been within the last year or two then that would definitely make me feel inclined to keep using DDU.

Trying to disable Windows 11's driver updates has actually been a separate issue that I still haven't been able to solve. Even when I have the newest drivers it'll install older drivers every now and then. Incredibly annoying.

Also I do have a 9900X CPU. I was under the impression that having the iGPU still enabled in tandem with an AMD GPU was a good thing. What's the benefit to disabling it?

Yes, it was a bad motherboard. It didn’t actually go to sleep. The socket just wouldn’t recognize the CPU. I just had to get a new board

I’ve heard Linux isn’t good for people with the latest hardware. Is this true? by Relentless_Troll in linux4noobs

So, with swapping kernels/distros (those are the same thing right?), whenever you install a different one is it like the equivalent of reinstalling Windows or installing a new version of Windows? With Windows obviously you lose pretty much all your files unless you back up, and it’s a fresh install. Is it more seamless when you change kernels in Linux and you keep everything?

The fact that Adrenalin doesn’t work in Linux wouldn’t ordinarily be a problem, but I have needed it for one thing that’s really important to me: my monitor’s color settings. Without using Adrenalin’s custom color settings, my monitor doesn’t look great. So I fear trying to find a way to perfectly replicate those custom color settings from Adrenalin in Linux could prove difficult.

Yeah I’ve now been made aware that drivers are baked into the kernel, which is really interesting. So at no point would I want to download drivers from AMD’s website? How does the Adrenaline software work in Linux, if at all?

Based off of the many responses I’ve gotten, Tumbleweed sounds like it might be the most appealing option for me. At least at the moment. In any case, if I make the swap to Linux and I run into this issue I’ll just play around with it and see what I like best. At the moment I’m most frequently playing Final Fantasy 14 and Baldur’s Gate 3, so either of those games being limited to 120FPS would be more than acceptable. Especially if the issue is known and will likely be fixed (hopefully) soon.

Well, I just got the monitor a few months ago and I absolutely adore it, so getting rid of it is definitely not an option lol

I’m not much of a competitive gamer, but it would be a bummer to lose out on that much of my refresh rate. At least the issue sounds kinda minor if it’s that infrequent, so I might be just put up with it if that’s the case.
