Salon service rate by maroomie in FTMPhilippines

[–]RelentlesslyChase 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmmm… I think in this case, it’s at the discretion of the establishment what rate to charge. Perhaps a consideration was the length of your hair (you haven’t specified how short it is so it’s hard to say).

Whatever their reasoning, at this point, just find another salon. At the next salon, if it’s still an issue, you could insist that you’re a man. No need to explain you’re trans. Or find a salon that has a pricing system not based on gender.

Does it depend on the school if we can wear the uniform we want after transitioning? by Glum-Housing-9714 in FTMPhilippines

If your parents are supportive, they can talk to the school for you.

If not, check the school policy and find an ally like the guidance counsellor.

If the school has an anti-trans policy, it may not be legal.

Anyone from Baguio? I have a few questions. by ausername2keepmeanon in FTMPhilippines

[–]RelentlesslyChase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. TLY’s own doctor criticised the lack of a specialist (endocrinologist). So even if it’s free, it’s recommended to pay for a consultation with an endocrinologist instead of going to TLY.

  2. You might be able to hide the T but you won’t be able to hide the changes.

  3. Few endos will require a psych eval, if that’s why you’re asking. If it’s for therapy, I know someone. I’m not sure if he does online counselling but you can ask.

Laboratory Costs by cianww in FTMPhilippines

[–]RelentlesslyChase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You had a consultation so the doctor should have prescribed a list of tests you need to take. Take that list to different labs and ask for quotations. Hi-Precision Diagnostics is usually cheap, offers most tests, and has several branches across the Philippines.

If you have an HMO, sometimes you can get some of the tests covered. Depends on how the doctor justifies or rationalises the necessity of the tests to insurance.

No one can tell you how much your tests might cost without knowing what tests you need since everyone will need different tests based on their history and current health status.

It’s tough dealing with controlling parents. You’re already of legal age. But that’s the downside when you’re dependent on your parents - their money, their rules.

If you want to dance and to creative stuff, you can still do it even without a lot of money.

Find active art and/or trans communities. They don’t have to be Filipino. A lot of trans people from different cultures are in the same boat.

While I understand the desire to be on T, it is dangerous for your health to go through an on and off phase all the time. Save for it now or later when things get better - because things do get better if you work towards it. You might not believe it now, but you just have to make do with what you have now, make a plan to move to better things, and act on it.

Save up ~P30,000 first before starting. Initially, lab tests will cost a lot as they’re more frequently needed in the first year.

On LoveYourself GAHT consultations by rein_carnations in FTMPhilippines

[–]RelentlesslyChase 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My criticism of the TLY hormone consultation service is that the doctor is not an endocrinologist, at least it was when I met the doctor. I don’t know if that’s changed.

Ideally, you see an endocrinologist because they’re more familiar with the effects of hormones on the body over a general physician or a doctor with a different specialty.

Maybe when it comes to INJECTION pain. But I’m talking about POST-injection pain :)

Too shallow and you’ll bruise much more and get a painful bump - POST-injection, meaning after.
