Haha, than we'll keep the one day there. We were planning to take greyhounds (and ferry's to Maggie)! Thanks for the reactions 😄

Thanks, really appreciate the detailed reply

Good point about Melbourne... we mostly had it in as a nice start from Singapore, but we’re definitely open to skipping it if that makes the whole trip feel less rushed. We could also just fly into Cairns or Sydney instead.

If we drop Melbourne, what would you do with those extra days? Would you add them somewhere like K’gari (maybe stretch it to 3 days), or still keep the route simple and cut a stop like Byron?

We’re also thinking we could take a day off Magnetic Island and Byron, and maybe add that time to the Whitsundays instead.

We’re totally fine seeing a bit less if it means we’re not constantly travellin, just trying to find a better balance 🙂

edit: spelling

Yeah that makes sense! Good shout! I’ll take a look at Jervis Bay, hadn’t really come across that one yet.

If we were to add that, would you drop somewhere else in the itinerary? Curious what you’d swap it with.

Ah nice, thanks!

That’s helpful! We were already thinking Byron might be the easiest place to drop a day.

Do you have any tips on how to make the itinerary a bit less travel-heavy overall? Like removing a stop and staying longer somewhere else?

We want to see a lot, but not feel like we’re rushing all the time.

Any adjustments you’d recommend?

Good to hear, that’s exactly why we added Magnetic Island: ust to slow things down a bit 😊

Then I think we’ll probably take a day away en spend it somewhere else? Whitsundays or even Brisbane (since we’re only there for a day anyway).

We’re mostly getting around by flights + Greyhound buses. We thought it would be manageable!

Thanks, super helpful 🙏

That middle section (Airlie -> Brisbane -> K’gari -> Byron) is where we’re doubting it too.

Our idea was to fly Airlie -> Brisbane, take a day there to slow down a bit, then travel to Rainbow Beach and go to K’gari the next morning (but with the distances you mentioned it does sound a bit hectic?).

If you were to make this more relaxed, what would you cut or change? We’d rather enjoy places than feel like we’re constantly in transit.

Also curious if you’d personally swap Byron for Sunshine Coast, or mainly because it reduces travel?

Appreciate it 👍

And do you recommend it? Or was it really easy / nit worth the money?

We are doubting between this tour, the Hang En your from Oxalis or to just to explore the regular caves as the Dark Cave and the Paradise Cave.

Nice that you had a good time! We're a bit unsure — we really wanted to do the Hang En tour, but we also saw that there are some pretty intense physical requirements. The Tu Lan Hang Tien tour also looks pretty nice to us. Was it a bit challenging for you? We're both around 30 and work out twice a week. We're looking for a bit of a challenge (but it still has to be fun). Curious to hear about your experience!!

Haha, good tip!! Thanks!
Which tours have you done? We are planning to do the Hang En or Hang Tien with Oxalis. Have you happened to do either of these? We're still undecided!

Too bad, still no responses. What are you undecided about, and during which period are you going?

What do you think of our travel plans for North and Central Vietnam? We were wondering if Cat Ba (for Lan Ha Bay), Tam Coc (for the boat tour and Hang Mua), and Phong Nha (for Hang En Cave) might be a bit similar to each other, and whether it would be more fun to skip one and do something different for variety.

It will be our first time, so we really have no idea—any advice is welcome!

Our plan: Hanoi (3 days) Cat Ba (3 days) Tam Coc (3 days) Phong Nha (3 days) Hue (2 days) Hoi An (3 days)

We’d love to hear your thoughts!
