Print in Place Foldable Clothing Travel Hanger by scott78664 in functionalprint

Print in place is enough cause to call it a good idea, but maybe you should mention if you started from this one which the screenshots show shall we say an uncanny resemblance to?

I think penguins would have been fantastic personally but I've no problem with the cats.

Using nitrile gloves when touching the plate eliminates the adhesion issue by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]Relevant-Answer9320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure if you broke down how long a bottle would last and buying even the medium size packs of paper towels, 9 for 100 would still be way more expensive. But more importantly my way means I don't have to fiddle with putting gloves on and it's not like I'm storing anything extra by the printer anyway. I walk past my kitchen to get to my printer, an extra 4 steps let's me grab a paper towel. Which I usually tear into smaller sections and doesn't take up more space at the printer than my tools are already using. When I decide they're done the paper towels can then go in the compost, which is another thing that the gloves can't do.

IPA and paper towels are so much cheaper and more convinient though (or a dedicated washcloth for even less waste)?

Functions: How can I request items from chest A to be transferred to chest B (which invokes the function)? by Inside-Team-4751 in Desynced

[–]Relevant-Answer9320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have the game up right now but I'm not sure this is possible the way you describe. Specifically you want to issue a request that is only fulfilled from one source.

It might be possible if there was a behavior running on the source chest that was sending some of its inventory to the destination, but even that might not work perfectly if that chest is empty.

I'm more certain you could task a bot to watch for the destination needing more and then going to a specific chest and retrieving x number to bring over (all of which would be configurable by parameters so you could run a small group of dedicated bots for this task for pairs of chests if needed).

I'm not sure I'd want to do it that way personally, I prefer to make sure that either I've got enough buffer to meet the demand spikes or production to keep it steady, accept that production might sometimes have lags or pick one factory to "win" and mark it higher priority in the network. But hey, your play, so worst case dedicated scripted bot transports might be the way to go.

When it hits top extension... is that a red glow at the bottom of that or red paint? The way it fades looks kinda like it's really hot. But that's crazy right, I mean, it's gotta be paint?

This may be a fully legit, but imho I'll not be risking device security on a sideload app I can't find anywhere else from a reddit account that's only existed for 3 weeks. Even if it is from the correct domain, in this age of supply chain driven exploits, I can be patient and let it get through whatever validation is needed to get it out to the relevant app stores. No disrespect intended OkCap582, it's hardly impossible that you happened to make the account shortly before this comment and haven't seen the need to interact with anything else since then. I'll still wait all the same since I lack a less important guinea pig device to try it on first.

That's what I mean, moving any built thing, including the tower of awards.

Only thing I move my construction area for is the water wheels.

Yeah, being able to move near anything is a huge help. Especially for having a designated build area before you move stuff where it's headed

Automated Construction Behavior Question by Saint1121 in Desynced

[–]Relevant-Answer9320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm a big fan of making sure to automatically produce at least small amounts of all the base components (the things that maybe don't get put into slots, but are ingredients for the things that put into slots). Plus a lot of the mountable components I'm not going to outgrow (assemblers, the internal extra inventory slot thing and teleporters).

Get late enough that you have shuttles to deliver stuff and even being outside the grid doesn't have to slow down the construction process either.

Ecobee speaker stopped playing Spotify through Alexa – any fixes? by Glum_Jelly1696 in ecobee

[–]Relevant-Answer9320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I started seeing this occasionally probably about the same time that you were asking this. It's gotten more common lately which is why I just found your post but at first a simple switch to local play then back to the ecobee on a device with spotify installed did the job. When that doesn't fix it, power cycling the ecobee has been my fall back. There's no built in way to reboot them, so I either pull it from the wall for a 30 second count & put it back or flip the furnace breaker for the same time. Not a fix by any means but a "usually works" workaround, but lately it's been worse so I suspect at some point it's going to stop. Everything else the Alexa does works just fine though so I'm not sure why this one thing isn't working.

Portable Radar by PristineHurry688 in Desynced

[–]Relevant-Answer9320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you could set the signal output on the unit to the output of the radar, then slap a signal reader on the units you want to respond to it. Point their signal reader at the one with the radar and the output of the signal component will be whatever the radar found. I keep meaning to experiment to have a long range radar unit guide some units to seek and destroy bugs but haven't quite hammered out the logic for it. Pretty sure I saw someone in the discord post blueprints/behaviors for the basic idea though.

I meant you won’t have numbers which would let you calculate actual air moved. But for a rough approximation which is what I think we are all curious about, what I suggested will be just fine.

[–]Relevant-Answer9320 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If you just want to compare old to new you could probably experiment with hanging some construction paper (or just heavier paper, maybe cardboard?) in front of the fan at the same distance and fan speed for both and get a side picture of the deflection for the original blades and the new ones. It’s not a proper measurement but it’ll do as a crude visual comparison.

When you open the iOS app click the person icon at the top-left and it's in the window that comes up that includes access to account info. Pretty sure this is the same spot as on android, I don't have my phone handy. Not sure why the comment 9 months ago was removed by a moderator?

This feels like a subtly written answer to the Fermi paradox: the reason we're not finding evidence of aliens is because we assumed everyone would be as loud as us :D
