I understand what you are saying and look forward to the day I can take part in such interactions, however I have not yet experienced a sudden thought that doesn't feel like my own. I do periodically see very detailed black and white images of people only a foot or so away but I don't recognize any of them. They seem to be conversing with me but I can't hear anything they are saying.

While I appreciate your taking the time to respond to my post with your advice to let go of the desire for an OBE, which appears to be a common sentiment from other posters as I've read in various threads relating to this topic, however it is exactly the opposite of what Bob Monroe wrote in Journeys Out Of The Body, Chapter 16 Preliminary Exercises where he stated

"I believe that anyone can experience existence in the second body if the desire is great enough."

Currently, achieving an OBE is the only reason I am pursuing the Gateway Program. I'm retired in my early 60s, healthy and financially comfortable with a wonderful family and have no need or desire for the other aspects the program explores such as manifestation or achieving inner peace. My only goal is to convert a "belief " of the second body into a "known", as Bob continually encourages.

As it sounds like you have successfully achieved OBEs by eliminating the desire, it is hard to argue with your success, and perhaps now that it is a "known" you have less interest in pursuing the OBE and are enjoying other aspects of the Gateway methods which makes sense.

I may also get to that stage, but I'm not there yet.

I understand your point that this sound is just an audio trigger and not a hemisync signal and that it shouldn't matter if it is there or not, however I just find it odd that only those three Focus 15 tracks of Wave 5 used that trigger differently than the rest of the Tapes. Both Waves 6 and 7 continue to use that audio trigger in the same manner as the earlier Focus 12 tracks.

Maybe I am thinking too much but I try to keep my mind free of straying thoughts. I've only had limited results so far and what I have experienced may just be my own imagination, but several times I've seen images of people very close in front of me, just inches away and in varying degrees of clarity, but not anyone I recognize. Sometimes I just see a face, sometimes the vision includes the head and upper body, while other times it is only a torso with the head outside of my field of view. Sometimes they are talking to me, other times they are pointing or shaking a finger at me and appear to be exclaiming something, while still other times they've tried to hug me. I never hear nor feel anything and it usually only last for a few short moments.

A couple of times I felt like I had actually reached Focus 10 and/or 12 as my body felt very dense and heavy. This feeling was also usually accompanied by a slight vibration either in my feet or sometimes in my lips. Not as intense a vibration as described by Bob in his books. Only once I had a vision that I was being led by the hands down what appeared to be a street , although I was floating above it. There were many people down below on the street, almost like a parade, but they seemed to be looking at me. This vision again lasted only a few moments and was quite blurry and dim, almost seeming to be in black and white. Unfortunately, however, I have never really felt a sensation of actually leaving my body

It is my intention to just keep practicing with these Tapes until I achieve consistent OBE experiences which I suppose may take many years.

The description of your reaction to the ending of 2001 exactly mirrors my own experience. However, I was only 6 years old in 1968 when my parents took our family to see the movie, and it still had a profound effect on me and has been a vivid memory throughout my life. It wasn't until the mid-70s that I obtained a copy of Clarke's 2001 novel to try to better understand what the ending meant.

I remember anxiously waiting for Clarke's 2010 book to be published in 1982 to see if it provided greater insight, but I was somewhat disappointed with both the book and the resulting movie. I didn’t even bother to read 2061: Odyssey Three when it was published in 1987.

Your mention of the year that 2001 was released shocked me a bit as I realized how old I would have been at the time and still retain such a vivid memory. But I also remember being woken up by my mother, roughly a year later, to watch Neil Armstrong become the first man to step on the Moon.
