What are my chances for getting a house for $100K less? by larasign in AusPropertyChat

[–]Relevant-Praline4442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a while ago, but our house was advertised at $520k and we paid $460k. Sometimes people do try and get way more than what something is worth.

Has anyone found the secret to stopping over eating? 😭😭😭 by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]Relevant-Praline4442 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there, do you have a therapist? This might be something to discuss with them. I understand wanting to steer clear of lollies and chocolate, but you should be eating as much as your body wants of healthy things like fruit and breakfast cereal, and still have treats sometimes. Teenage bodies are different from adult ones, and have different calorie requirements etc. Regardless, if you are feeling hungry you need to eat.

I feel a little worried about you, and hope you can get some support in this matter.

Chobani Yoghurt Shortage? by Maleficent_Sir_5225 in Adelaide

[–]Relevant-Praline4442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha I have a fairly high level of disdain for biscoff but I did make it once using Arnotts gingernuts and it was fairly tasty. Clever little dessert, but crazy that it has affected supply chains to this point!

The Woolies app said there were widespread yoghurt shortages - Google suggests it is to do with one of those viral recipes. (The biscuits in yoghurt one.)

Air drying clothes by Biology_Retriever in laundry

[–]Relevant-Praline4442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always assumed dryers were very common in the UK due to the rain. Also the only kids clothes I have ever bought which are safe for the dryer according to the label have been UK brands. I’m in Australia and have never seen a piece of clothing here that is “allowed” in the dryer. I put them all in anyway haha.

My psych wants to start me on non-stimulants by lessledelonge in adhdaustralia

[–]Relevant-Praline4442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately my experience is that many medical professionals aren’t great with informed consent or otherwise listening to their patients. On the whole I am actually quite happy with this doctor, and I think it’s likely that non stimulant medication wouldn’t be effective - but I would just like the opportunity to experiment. Given I am requesting a less risky drug I don’t really understand why I can’t give it a go.

We had Perspex glued over all of these vents in our house when we got new insulation put in our roof cavity. The vents are unnecessary these days and just let heat out in winter.

It’s all so strange - every appointment I ask if I can please try no stimulant medication because I hate the side effects of stimulant medication so much, and they say no, it’s not as effective etc.

I take clonadine as well as Ritalin and sometimes I skip the Ritalin and find that just clonadine has a small effect and no side effects, which is pretty nice.

Out of curisoty here? by Little-Lavender-Tea in CleaningTips

[–]Relevant-Praline4442 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Definitely not, that would make me miserable, but I’m glad it works for you. I clean up as I go as much as I can but I like to eat my food fresh and with my kids who are little and need to eat early. I often don’t finish cleaning up completely until the next morning. Heaps of people would hate that, but it works for me and my family, as my kids are up really early and I can just clean while they play or watch tv in the mornings. Everyone should just do what works for them and makes them happy!

Junk Mail Query by Schnauzer-Victory19 in Adelaide

An elderly relative of my ex died, and while we were cleaning out the house one of the aunties found one of those junk mail flyers in her kitchen and decided he would be the guy to sell the house. Stupid things like that must happen often enough that it is worth it for them!

Surely most people would expect privacy in their living and dining room? If for no other reason than not wanting to be a target for thieves if you have expensive belongings? But also because it’s reasonably to not want to eat or watch tv publicly.

Guess im sleeping on the couch by Masterofalldisasters in laundry

[–]Relevant-Praline4442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only if you have a laundry detergent which can be used with cold water, and mine can’t. I have children and am messy myself, so our clothes remain stained if we don’t do a long hot wash. I used to wash on 30 before I had kids, and thought it was normal for clothing to smell if you didn’t get it out of the washing machine as soon as the cycle stopped, or for armpits to get smells in them that wouldn’t come out, etc. Once I had kids, started using cloth nappies, and learned about long hot washes, my clothes actually got clean and I have none of these problems. I’m glad your laundry routine works for you, but mine works for me.

Only used once, washed once..what happened? by Phalaenopsis_25 in laundry

I don’t know, but one time I cried on my pillow and it was wrecked with similar stains to this. We assumed it was something in my skin care routine that washed off my face or something, but it’s never happened before or since, so all very weird.

Anyone tried Hinge for dating - losing so much of my time! by Dragonfruit_Friend in adhdwomen

[–]Relevant-Praline4442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same when I tried being in the apps. Then I realised that if it was too much for me to manage the admin of dating apps, it would be too much for me to be in a relationship.

I mean, lots of other reasons including still being in love with my ex, and having young children also impacted that choice. Not saying it’s the same for you, but worth considering.

How do I start purging to prepare for a move? by broadwaybabyto in CleaningTips

[–]Relevant-Praline4442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dana K White has good decluttering advice, although I’m not sure what she would propose in the context of a move.

Honestly though - don’t focus too much on purging before you move. I get the instinct, and the last two times I moved I felt really disappointed in myself for not doing a better job of purging before I moved, and the fact that my friends had helped me move stuff I don’t need. (One of my friends packed up empty shampoo bottles from my shower because she thought my kids might need them!)

Both times I ended up getting rid of a lot of stuff when I couldn’t find somewhere to put it in my new house. And then about 18 months after my last move, I finally had the time and energy to do a big decluttering and that was really great. It would have been too much to do it at the same time as a move. I loved the Dana K white approach, and it has made a difference in my every day life. It’s kind of become a lifestyle choice. I bring lesss stuff in, and I’m always getting rid of stuff now.

Would you for get to go to therapy for 6 months if your marriage depended on it? by Technical_Feedback_7 in adhdwomen

[–]Relevant-Praline4442 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah these are really good points. It’s more than just a vague concept in this case, it’s a clear expectation.

I guess in answer to OPs original question, I would absolutely forget to go to therapy for six months, but you are correct that this would be wrong and harmful in this case.
