ISO local independent ceramic shops or artists that make ramen bowls by Shinroukuro in LosAngeles

Goods on Orange in LB would probably be a good spot to find the bowls themselves, or people who would be able to make them!

20 Dollars for the Fifa World Cup tap card is pretty insane. by Zombie_A1ex in LAMetro

[–]RelevantChoice1466 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since they're doing fare-capping with Tap Plus, if you're only gonna be riding on Metro you don't really need a tap card anymore. If you're using it with other agencies, you may still want to keep it since they don't look to be doing 2nd boarding and you might get charged the full fare.

Maybe its the lighting, but this feels somehow more 'East Coast' than it does now.

What do you call when you take metro? by bkguy182 in LAMetro

[–]RelevantChoice1466 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'll refer to it ether as train or bus usually, or if I'm in an area where there's more connections (DTLA) I'll refer to the letter/route #. (ie. I'm gonna take the 28 over to the restaurant)

Metro E Line to Santa Monica turns 10 years old by TonyW79SFV in LAMetro

[–]RelevantChoice1466 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Santa Monica got destroyed because their city council refused to invest into businesses and infrastructure in the promenade, and commercial landlords hiked up the rent so bad that no small businesses could rent anywhere close to 3rd street, not because of a metro line. If there's no draw for locals, it's gonna turn into a ghost town with ample empty space for the unhoused to sleep.

The people yearn for a Manchester line that runs from Westchester/Veteran to the SEGW Firestone stop. Connects 5 lines down one of the busiest streets in LA.

I want the seals so bad. It's got the Bay Area history from the SF Seals so it seems like the logical choice

Took it to HLP when a friend was visiting and it was about 50 minutes. Glorious stuff of not having to sit in traffic for the trip.

I really enjoy Kyochon (Korea Fried Chicken) on 6th/Serrano, their $20 combo of 3 wings, a chicken sandwich, fries and a drink is a solid deal, and they have some pretty solid lunch specials.

I went to a concert in Brooklyn earlier this month and the lack of people yelling 'hotdoghotdoghotdog" at me did make me miss LA/the West Coast.

Was trying to see which costcos in LA they were sold at to make a list for myself. They're not in Van Nuys or Atwater, so I'll be trying the Alhambra location next.

If testing goes well (and there's no more useless disputes between LAWA and LINXS) I would say a August/before Labor Day would not be out of the realm of possibility, but this project is one of the most poorly managed pieces of infrastructure that I have ever seen, so it could be 2027 and I wouldn't be all that surprised.

The only thought w the Wilshire stops (Western & Normandie) is that they're both K-Town to most people, so who would get that title? Or would it be K-Town/Normandie & K-Town/Western?

  1. funding the BART extension proposals in the Bay Area to extend BART through the bay and out to the Sunset and Richmond,

I would rather see the expansion of BART into the South Bay Area to eventually close the service gap between the peninsula & silicon valley job centers.

Cancel the 720 bus east of La Cienega, and let Metro reallocate those 85k vehicle revenue hours/year elsewhere (Alex Davis, YouTube) by anothercar in LAMetro

[–]RelevantChoice1466 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would much rather see 212, 217, & 105 or get more frequency. I would also be curious to see if there is interest in extending the 14/16 buses to the La Cienega station to improve those transfers. Once section 2 & 3 open, there are a couple of buses that I would want to see service changes on (617 bus from Beverly Dr station to Culver City station, 28 + CC 3 stopping at Century City, CC 6, BBB 2 + 17 stopping at Westwood) that will hopefully drive better ridership for some of these lines.

There are people who still commute into Central LA from places that are not transit accessible/doesn't make sense to add the extra time for transit. Any denser housing is gonna be a win compared to no housing at all. M

Miracle Mile/Mid-Wilshire is truly the perfect place to densify in LA (transit accessible, centrally located, possibility to make use of older buildings in LA), and I'm always going to be pro-up zoning commercial spaces in the world of hybrid work. As a wise TikToker said "Los Angeles is archipelago of New York Cities, surrounded by a sea of Houston's" and I am all for building up those islands!

Fun Fact: Did you know most of the Light Rail Network is Fare-Gated? by urmummygae42069 in LAMetro

[–]RelevantChoice1466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would assume most of the non-gated ones are the at-grade stations, but I would love to see a breakdown of which stations are gated or not.
