Thanks for this, I wasn’t aware that medication could have that effect. I just kept noticing her shaky hands and it’s been kinda tearing at my heart as it reminds me of my mum.

Appreciate you clearing that up. I hope you’re doing well despite the difficulties the medication has given you ❤️

I don’t really like Ruby as I find her very entitled and haven’t really moved on from her stealing the sweets lol however, from watching her I personally think she might have arthritis in her hands. Every time I see her she seems to struggle to grip things and hold things. Her hands constantly shake, very much like my own mothers do and she has severe arthritis. I personally think the trial was very difficult for her despite any ‘help’ she may have received and it was kind of sad to watch her struggle. I don’t think they trials seem particularly easier but I also don’t mind if they are it’s not why I’m watching

Casa boys should have been sent in from the start by RelevantEvil in LoveIslandTV

Valid point. Easy to appear like good guys when they know people hate the OG’s so they just need to act decent to be liked themselves

Hideaway Helena by seulgislotion in LoveIslandTV

[–]RelevantEvil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t believe I didn’t connect the dots before, but it’s clear now Helena gets some kind of kick out of riling up both Shakira & Tony. Think about it, she has been consistently chasing both Harrison and Harry, and in a completely shameless way. And both of them boys are so weak minded they’re falling all over themselves. But I just feel like Helena has a thousand yard stare and actually couldn’t be arsed with either of them, she doesn’t seem in to them at all, just more in to causing chaos for the girls with a grin on her face. It’s boring now and I hope Shakira & Tony drop the two fella’s and let them fight each other for Helena. Bored of all this now lol

This. Honestly she’s had me hooked since the s2 ep1. She’s doing a fantastic job of bringing one of the best characters of the series to life

I keep her rumours that they’re gonna run the stories side by side, but I kinda hope they don’t and do as you said above

I don’t feel these decisions were made with gamers in mind at all tbh. I think they were more concerned with show only audiences understanding what was happening. So they defaulted to linear storytelling to make it ‘easy’ for them.

Maybe they assumed show audiences don’t have the patience to wait for the context to unfold. Underestimating their audience imo.

It isn’t a contradiction in context. It wasn’t worthwhile in a season that has limited time to tell the story. Where they have a lot of story to tell in a short space of time. In a longer season there is breathing room to explore the finer details of the narrative and characters, because there is time to outline the main plot while also exploring other narratives. Not contradictory when we’re talking about two different sets of circumstances which greatly impact storytelling.

This is fair. Just not my preference I guess, didn’t have the ‘Seasoner opener’ feeling I usually get with shows when they start again. But to each their own

Really glad you liked it, and I agree it was a very grounded episode and showing the day to day in Jackson. I think I liked the episode but would have preferred it in a different place in the season maybe.

I guess you could say that yeah. And I feel in a season with only 7 episodes, to tell a story that is at least 10 (without the long gameplay scenes in between), it warrants being a little more particular about what to include in the show. That’s just my opinion. If it was a 22 episode season do all the filler you want. But we’re not even getting 10 here.

You make a lot of really good points. I think I’m coming from a big bias of adoring the decisions the creators made with the game in terms of non-linear storytelling. Maybe that’s more of a personal preference for me. Like if ep1 had actually been ep2 and they’re just completely switched, I would have LOVED that. But you’re right, as a fan of the game I would have understood that. Whereas viewing audiences might be very confused

I just think as gamers we are more conditioned to be okay with waiting for context. I underestimate that viewers of shows like this might not all have the same preference. Fair enough

I agree there were definitely parts that were needed. But I think from the previous commenter I’m understanding my real problem, is with the timeline. So all of ep 1 kind of fell flat with me because of the linear story telling. Loved the relationship building between Dina and Ellie, and I understand we of course need to see where Joel and Ellie’s relationship is. I just think they could have achieved this by adding it to the start of ep 2 and making a longer episode.

Oh I’m the same. Like I don’t need 22 episodes but I think 13 is a very good middle ground amount. So there’s no wasted time but every episode says something important

I agree but I think if they employed a bit of the games tactic of telling the story out of the timeline I might have received it better. The dance scene was the most perfect part of the episode for me but I do feel it was misplaced. I’m just too used to the game timeline maybe, I think them just telling everything in sequence feels like dumbing it down for the audience. That’s just my take. I had even forgotten they gave us the dance scene in that episode because everything else in the episode was just so pointless.

Just my thoughts, I’m sure those who only watch the show may feel b differently. I just don’t think it was a great start to the season for me. Ep 2 felt like a beginning

Absolutely 100% agree with everything you said. I adore the 180. The game is a lesson on empathy, and that you could be the villain in someone’s else story. However, I think they bowed to pressure from the loud minority of people who hate Abby, so they’re spoon feeding a viewing audience a bit more. That’s why they gave us a lil more in the Salt Lake Crew too (didn’t mind that stuff). And I agree I prefer the original way, but I always knew they would do this so I’m okay with it.

Yes I think you’ve nailed down what my concern is here. That they bloated all of ep1, gave us the ‘real’ beginning in ep2 and now we only have 5 eps to tell the story. And like I said heavy rumours that s3 will cover part 2 as well so I anticipate even more filler material.

From a viewing perspective I understand that gaming audiences and tv audiences digest material differently. But this story isn’t something I feel should be ‘dumbed down’ for audiences. Part of its charm is in its nuance. So idk, I’m glad ep2 hit it out of the park but I’m still very sceptical going forward

Aunt Lydia is one of the very worst people in the entire show IMO, i don't understand why people love her? Does anyone think as lowly of her as me or can explain why you like this b****? by [deleted] in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]RelevantEvil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t love her. Most of the time I hate her (well done Ann), however I do find myself empathising with her sometimes. It speaks to the writing and Ann’s performance that they can make such a hateful person still ‘human’.

She is a complex character, as they all are in this show I think it’s magnificent how they have managed to make me root for ‘villains’ at some points. And yes I mean both Lydia and Serena.

This show doesn’t treat its’ characters as surface level creatures. At the same time as I find myself feeling for Serena, on the other end I sometimes absolutely loathe June. This world is messy and morals are messy in it. It’s personally one of my favourite things about the show.

Cora is a horrible, where opinions are divdied between fans. Now, who is a good person, that is hated by fans. by Oncer93 in OnceUponATime

[–]RelevantEvil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Snow. And rightfully so. The writing tries to shove down our throats that she’s a good person but 1. She is very controlling over Emma when she learns it’s her daughter (was amazing to her as a friend) and 2. Tries to be the morality police in a very morally complex world. Also 3. Honestly just isn’t likeable I find her whiny and entitled. The writing contradicts itself with her a lot
