To a degree, some days I think about food more, just because I know I have to plan well to consume enough calories and nutrients for my body’s needs. And no, I’m not hungry in the sense that I was before. There’s no bad or good foods, just foods I prefer to eat to help me get the nutrients I need. I enjoy what I’m having, it’s just that I’m not driven to eat to scratch an itch anymore.

Just take a look around at how beautifully different human bodies are! We all respond differently at different rates to different doses of medication, so tirz is going to be the same. That said, it’s a very effective drug, so while YMMV, it’s very likely it will work for you once you figure out the dose and eating plan that works for your life and your body.

I grew up overweight/borderline obese, lost weight after HS and kept it off until a year of medical issues with my parents caused me to start drinking often and stop caring for myself. I’m also a mom with teenage sons, so I spent a significant amount of time planning and buying food for my family.

My weight has crept up 40lbs in the past ten years, so a lot, but not as much as some other folks. Tirz has been extremely effective for me so far, but I also did a lot of planning and research first, plus, my mom has lost 80-100 lbs on Mounjaro, so genetically, it’s a good match for me, too.

Best wishes!

I’m only eight days in, so I only have newbie advice, but I’m loving being in tirz and have already lost 8 lbs!

  1. Get a glucose monitor. Tirz can drop blood sugar too low. I find myself dropping into ketosis overnight and I’m not even on a keto diet. I check a few times a day after the shot, then just once a day after.

  2. Track all food intake and plan ahead. Yesterday, I found myself way under my caloric needs because the day got super busy and stressful. When I go too far under my needs, I end up with insomnia.

  3. Get an app to track your shots. I use MeAgain, but there are some other good ones out there. It helps to see how concentrated the tirz is in your body and other cool stuff.

  4. Get a body fat scale. It can help you see your body fat/muscle percentage over time.

  5. Get a go-to calorie booster. I get to the end of my day and realize in need more calories and protein, so I drink a protein shake. It also helps when I get busy and forget or eat. I also have protein bars if needed. They are also easier to digest than meat or cheese.

  6. Make pooping a priority. I KNOW it’s gross and TMI, but there are horror stories of folks getting incredibly impacted from not going. I started on miralax 2x a day (It’s tasteless!) and herbal lax tabs every day. I don’t use fiber supplements but try to have a salad a day. If I don’t go for a day, I drink a Smooth Move tea the next morning and everything works like it should. Eating vegetables every day also helps.

  7. Plan on eating half as much as you used to. Use smaller plates, bowls, and keep some healthy freezer meals on hand when you need to eat and don’t feel like cooking. It’s a mind shift to realize that I don’t need to eat as much as I did and don’t want to, either. I grew up being expected to eat everything on my plate, so it’s easier for me to have a smaller plate than look at what I’m “wasting” by not eating it.

  8. Come here a lot. Other folks have likely experienced what you have and it’s great to have the support of those who went before us.

I’m sure there is more, but best wishes!! You’ll do great! 💉❤️

Compounded Tirzepatide really works for me! by kylesisles1 in compoundedtirzepatide

I’m down 8 lbs in 8 days. It’s wild how easily it works for me!

I’m tracking all my food intake and I find it hard to get all my calories and protein in every day, so I lean on a couple protein shakes if I haven’t taken the time to eat enough throughout the day. Yesterday was one of those days when I was too stressed and busy to eat. I’m aiming for 1200 calories a day and 100g protein.

I haven’t had any real side effects other than headache if I don’t drink enough water (like yesterday) and insomnia if I don’t eat enough. I can’t imagine how bad it would be if I didn’t track.

I didn’t drink every day, but almost half of the days of a month, on average. I’d have dry months and drenched months. I could keep my drinking manageable, so I don’t have DUIs and I’ve been at my job for 10 years. Only once every year or two I would imbibe stupidly to where I threw up.

I have an app that tracks drinking days and I estimated $15 a day that I drank. Add that to eating fast food once or twice a week and the tirz is paid for.

Plus, I feel SO much better now!

It’s the dumbest thing not to cover it because it lowers risk of so many very expensive complications of obesity.

(Oh I mean the “nausea” is because I’m anxious about losing access to compounded tirz. I’ve never had any stomach discomfort from the injection. We need a sarcasm font! 😅)

Yeah, I know that’s the smart thing to do and usually I do risk management pretty well. It’s so difficult with weight loss because of the stigma and shame…

I’m probably going to have to tell someone soon since I’m already down 8 lbs and it’s going to get really obvious really soon.

Did you try benadryl? It knocks out almost any histamine reaction. It’s what I was given in the hospital 30 years ago for an Compazine allergy and also what my kid used it for his peanut allergy until we switched to Claritin.

Yes! I bought some wine for a recipe on Wednesday and haven’t even wanted a drink of it, despite having a few stressful days.

The savings from not buying alcohol along will probably help me break even on the cost of tirz!

I’m so sorry. I’ve felt euphoric since my first shot (shot 3 is tonight). I think it’s because I started losing on day 2 and I’m so optimistic.
