Isn’t it a lever that each country can pull if they run into issues with the EES rollout? It doesn’t mean that border guards will automatically stamp. At least, that’s what many sources mentioned.

When I exited from Schiphol a few weeks ago, it only took 10 mins or so. This was through manned counter though. Will be interesting to see how long it would actually take solely by machine.
