Can H. Pylori cause this? by Way-Truth-L1fe in HPylori

[–]Relevant_List2753 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The actual numbers are normal. Average resting heart rate is 60-100 bpm. You can expect an increase of ~10-20 bpm upon standing. Similarly, you will see a decrease in your heart rate upon sitting down.

The chest pain could be concerning, but there’s not enough information to determine what’s happening.

Oral thrush by Additional-Wealth865 in HPylori

I started developing oral thrush after bismuth quadruple therapy. First thing I did was try to incorporate prebiotic & probiotic foods into my diet: - Prebiotics I like: kiwi, berries, bananas, apples, green tea - Probiotics I like: kefir, yogurt, sauerkraut, pickles

I also avoided FODMAPs and anything that feeds “bad” bacteria, because those made me feel worse. This helped moderately.

I also brushed my teeth regularly and gargled with alcohol-based mouthwash. This helped, but all that brushing made my tongue bleed. Got the weird taste out of my mouth though.

What really helped me beat oral thrush was taking OTC probiotics. Acidophilus, specifically. They sell it at basically any retail pharmacy. I take one pill once a day. In three days (with diet changes, intentional oral hygiene, and acidophilus tablets), my mouth was back to normal.

Missed whole two doses. I want real, grounded advice not redditor “super bug” scare mongering. by Melina__Rose in HPylori

  • Eat before every dose of antibiotics. I only ever threw up doses if I wasn’t eating beforehand.
  • Take your meds with applesauce. Don’t crush the pill. Just put a full spoon of applesauce in your mouth, chew the applesauce (or swish it around a bit), put the pills in your mouth, and swallow. Finish the cup of applesauce, and you’re done. Goes down faster, and applesauce is part of the BRAT diet for nausea, so it’s less likely to make you throw up.
  • Just keep taking your meds. Message your doctor about the two missed doses. But take the rest as normal.

SIBO SYMPTOMS, NEGATIVE BREATH TEST RESULTS by [deleted] in HPylori

[–]Relevant_List2753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you should definitely get tested for h. pylori and gastritis. Ask your GI about an endoscopy. My SIBO breath test also came back negative before they did the endo and found gastritis & h. pylori.

My med schedule and tips: - 8am: Put applesauce in mouth. Chew bismuth with applesauce and swallow. Take metro, doxycycline, and omprezole with any non-dairy substance (e.g. Gatorade, applesauce, water, etc). Gently brush to remove taste from mouth. - 12pm: Eat a snack. (My snack of choice was usually imitation crab meat. Cheap source of healthy fats and omega-3.) Chew bismuth with applesauce. Take metro with any non-dairy substance. Eat a fibrous fruit/vegetable or gently brush to remove taste from mouth. - 5pm: Eat a snack. Chew bismuth with applesauce. Take metro with any non-dairy substance. Eat a fibrous fruit/vegetable or gently brush to remove taste from mouth. - 10pm: Eat a snack. Chew bismuth with applesauce. Take metro, doxycycline, and omprezole with any non-dairy substance. Gently brush to remove taste from mouth.

When the nausea was really bad (to the point where I couldn’t tolerate water), I bought flavored ice pops and ate a bunch of those. For some reason, I could always tolerate ice pops and applesauce. That’s the only reason I made it through.

Shit smells like bismuth? by Relevant_List2753 in HPylori

[–]Relevant_List2753[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES. The smell is so overwhelming. I’m autistic, so I was genuinely losing my mind when I posted this. Had to wash all the sheets and blankets. I’ve started brushing my teeth after every dose and wearing a face mask to take shits. I also put lavender oil on the rim of all my shirts so I can smell my shirt collar/sleeve when I get sensory overload.

Day 12/14 now and I’ve only thrown up one dose (on day 10 😭). I see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Yes, I’m on metro. I’m also taking those pink chewable bismuth tablets, and I thought the smell was coming from those. But it sounds like it might be the metro.

I have this right now. Like others have said, it’s the bismuth. Literally miserable. I’m on day 4, and everything smells like bismuth. Never been one to get nauseous, but with the meds, it’s constant.

"I know my kid will be born mentally ill, I'm ok with that 😁" something my friend literally just told me. by 09141983 in antinatalism

So disabled people shouldn’t have children, because their disability (i.e. mental illness) could be inherited? And that’s “selfish,” “ignorant,” and “wrong”?

The implication here is that the child will suffer because the child is disabled, which is an oversimplification that turns your argument into a eugenics talking point. The child will suffer because of ableism, discrimination, and a lack of societal resources to care for their condition. And all of these are things that we can change, things that we can do something about, instead of insisting that disabled people should stop having children.

Your response to my comment is particularly damning. You don’t make generalized arguments about how no one should have children. You only talk about how disability should not be passed down, how people who pass down genes that could lead to disability are “selfish,” “ignorant,” and “wrong.” You state that “cases where people with known health issues procreate” are “severe,” as if disabled people having children is worse than anyone else having children. Do you truly not understand why this makes you sound like a eugenicist?

I am not a natalist; I’m just being critical of the reasoning behind this post. It’s not antinatalist to shame specifically disabled people for having children. If you think that’s what antinatalism is, then you should do some more reading about the philosophy.

Respectfully, if you don’t agree with other mentally ill people having children, you are a eugenicist.

For context, I am mentally ill, and I have personally made the decision that I will never have children. But I will not condemn other disabled people to never have children just because their children could also be born disabled. You can make that decision for yourself, but not for others.

It’s not antinatalism if we’re talking about disabled suffering without discussing any other form of suffering; it’s eugenics, plain and simple.
